Re: 1.2.5 not starting on Leopard, complains on wrong arch
I think it's a lot more basic than that. Audacity runs under Leopard just fine--with an Intel computer--not an older PowerPC. I have been avoiding upgrading to Leopard because two of my three machines are PowerPC and I'm sure as dirt going to run into the same problems you have. Any way you can go b...

Re: 1.2.5 not starting on Leopard, complains on wrong arch
Since I'm running a very old version of Audacity, I decided to upgrade to 1.2.6 to see what troubles I find. I'm not running Leopard, however, I'm running 10.4.11 Tiger on a 1.5 GHz PowerBook G4. audacity-macosx-ppc-1.2.6.dmg The install went OK. I put the lame, vst enabler, and plugins in the right...

Re: Edit or isolate by frequency
It wouldn't be dreadful to start out life with the built-in Effects > Equalization. It seems to only equalize down to -24 dB which is barely enough to even bother with, but if you pull the work window larger and taller, you find out it's actually much better than that. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity...

Re: Disc won't play on CD player
<<<I burn the file to a disc>>> That's the fine line difference between Data CD Burning software and Music CD Authoring software. The authoring software starts asking you things like getting the song titles automatically and whether or not to put the Red Book 2-second gap between the songs. It's ver...

Re: sound editing help
Does the sound do that with your headphones connected to the tape machine or external amplifier directly? Then yes, as above, get some rubbing alcohol (not scented) or, oddly enough, unflavored vodka and a pack of Q-Tips. Gently scrub all tape contact surfaces with a Q-Tip moistened with the alcohol...

Re: semi-stable
<<<I'm posting this as a bug report and am not looking for a fix as I'm now using different editing software.>>>
Which is?
Thanks for the report, but 1.2 is soon to be three version old software and I'm pretty confident nobody is working on it any more.

You have a MacBook Pro, right? MacBook Pro machines do not have PPC (Power PC) chips. They have Intel chips.
Oh. wait. You're not the original poster. See what happens when you hijack a thread?
Do an Apple-About This Mac. The chipset listed there has to match the Audacity version.

Re: Each track to a single speaker or analog line output ???
Audacity will manage 16 tracks of audio from any one sound device. If you have an electrical box that will push sixteen tracks of sound down one USB connection, then Audacity will cheerfully record it. Most boxes for audio production mix sound down to stereo before they deliver it to the recorder (A...

Re: Cant hear a track
Never delete anything until you Export As WAV... to get your final show as a single sound file. You messed up your Audacity Project. Projects are clouds of files that make up a performance when you press play (spacebar). The silly metaphor is somebody building a freeway just ahead of you driving and...

Re: Fluctuating volume when I play back!
It's not Audacity. I recorded all the live vocal tracks for a theatrical short using Audacity and it worked perfectly. How are you listening to the performance during recording? Where are your headphones plugged in? Some sound cards have automatic gain control and they try to even out any objectiona...
