Re: Recording Playback Problem
A combination of Audacity drivers, USB Audio Services, and the operating system sometimes results in unstable recordings from USB turntables. Secret Aural Teachings and Home Remedies suggest an upgrade to Audacity 1.3, putting a wall-powered USB hub in the middle, and there was some talk about sacri...

Re: Low level with Samsom C01U, Preference Problem?
We'll need to wait for one of the heavy Windows users to drop in. My Windows 2000 has different panels than you do.

Re: Low level with Samsom C01U, Preference Problem?
You may be experiencing two problems conjoined. Since "zero" dB in digital sound level is the point at which you generate unrecoverable, audible damage, no designer in his/her right mind would design a microphone containing no live controls anywhere even close to that level. So that puts t...

Re: Making an incomprehensible speech more comprehensible
<<<an "anti-mumble" button.>>> Nor does anyone else. The rule here is by the time you realize you need the special effects tools, it's too late. I don't think the big kids could rescue this; it's completely out of Audacity's league. And yes, I did listen to them. I can think of one not-fre...

Re: fail to save file
People get testy with us when we insist on the proper wording. Audacity doesn't Save files. It Exports files and Saves Projects. That's really important because Audacity Projects more often than not are standing on the original capture clips and imported sound files. If you Save your performance and...

Re: encrypted songs
<<2) Play the AACs in iTunes and Record them in Audacity.>>> That's not so easy to do on a Mac because it doesn't have that complicated recursive sound control panel. However, the time-honored way to do this is create a playlist, burn it to a CD and rip the CD. The less wasteful way is to buy a lice...

Re: Forum log in/connectivity problems
At 10:41pm Pacific, I tried to reply to a question and it was taking longer and longer, so I started a new FireFox tab and went to look at the underwear models in the Sears web site. The little posting twisty thing stopped rotating so I went back to the Audacity tab and it had crashed. No tab, no we...

Re: Making an incomprehensible speech more comprehensible
We're clear, right, that this was shot wrong? I'm guessing the piece was shot with the microphones on top of the camera. You can't get rid of the echoes, but you might be able to suppress the room noise...a little. You can't change the performer, either. She's competing with the room and your only h...
