Because you didn't post in a platform or version segment of the forum, I have to start asking you what kind of computer and which version of Audacity.

Re: Adding Silent 7 seconds at end?
<<<Any ideas why this is happening?!>>> I can guess. Where did you get the clip from? Was it an MP3 or WAV format? Audacity will try to manage a sound file even though it has no real idea what's going on. This leads to confused looks because the failure is way downstream from the actual problem. Koz

Re: Noise Removal
I'm guessing from thousands of miles away. Highlight the "room tone" segment and get the noise profile. Then highlight the portion of the song you want to process. Press go. Try manually selecting a small portion instead of Select All. Is there anything magic about your song? Did you impor...

Re: using a silence finder to split a long recording
"Silent Sense" is right up there in the list of tools that don't work. The other two are "Noise Removal" and "Clipping Repair." All these tools work perfectly when they're not needed. Silent Sense works exactly correctly when the silence between cuts is absolute and the...

Re: Inserting track labels on Mac OSX.4.11
Did the blue waveforms on the timeline vanish, or they're still there but the show is silent? Did you go into the files and manage or delete anything between the time you put the markers in and the time you tried to type the information? This general type of thing happens when somebody who doesn't u...

Re: Inserting track labels on Mac OSX.4.11
Next time you do this: You have not completed a successful capture (transfer from vinyl, live microphone, internet recoding) until you Export As WAV... to produce a robust safety copy of the performance. Audacity Projects are fluffy clouds of files (not a single file) and are easily damaged as you'r...

Re: Distortion pops up after recording awhile
And of all of them, stop using USB is the only one with the 100% success rate. Are we still using the small furry animals at midnight? We have created an Unstable Condition, somehow, and everybody's situation is different except for one thing. A condition is created which prevents transferring music...

Re: Changing MP3 to lame MP3
What he said. MP3 intentionally creates damage to the audio in order to get it as small as possible. If you decompress and then recompress--especially with two numbers so close together, you will be recompressing the damage with the song, plus creating new and improved damage. If the original songs ...

<<<then saved a little later after the Hi/Lo pass filtering>>> Under a new project name, or under the old one? Just so we're using the same words here, Stevie's creating many different projects as he goes. I suspect you're updating the same project repeatedly. He has "step-back points" and...

Re: How do I do these? : Normalize, trim silence, fade, and
I wondered about the batch thing. I don't think you can do most of that automatically. Normalize will not operate to an average loudness. Normalize takes the highest peak value and puts it at the preference selected level dragging the rest of the song with it. If you combine two songs, one with high...
