Re: Noise Removal
<<<I have uploaded a cassette tape into the Audacity>>> No bells or alarms so far. Can you describe the setup for Audacity to capture the tape? Tape player with a cable from Line-Out to the computer Line-In? Has this ever worked? Do any of the other Effect tools work, like Effect > Fade Out? Koz

Re: Need advice on mixers
Whichever pathway you take, the sound mixer has to supply all four or eight or sixteen channels of sound down one digital cable. The rule is Audacity will accept up to 16 tracks of sound from any one device . The silly example is that you can't plug eight turntables in and get sixteen channels of so...

Re: Need help recording
<<<I do that. but the previous recorded track plays at the same time.>>> Windows, right? You have the Windows Sound Panels set so Audacity will record the input of the sound card (Line_in, Mic-In) , and the output of the sound card (Wav-Out, Mix-Out). http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mix...

Re: Tab options greyed out.
You could try doing what I said in the other post. Does that little six second piece make it all the way through the process?
If it does, that means your original sound file is damaged and this will cause you constant problems. It's not supposed to be an uphill battle to edit and export a song.

Re: Accessing saved files
What he said. When I finish capturing a performance, I Export As WAV... immediately. That gives me a stable, robust sound file that I can go back to if everything else goes in the toilet...like that happened to you. Then, if I feel like it, I can Save Project As... , although that's far less importa...

Re: Distortion pops up after recording awhile
<<<Mac OSX>>> That covers a lot of ground. Tiger? Panther? <<<do any better if they simply change to another piece of recording software.>>> I don't think that's quite correct. If I dug hard enough, I think I can find several people in a position to use a different but less talented software package...

Re: Audacity Recording with SigmaTel
Only post pages of diagnostics is somebody asks for them. Most times, they only tell us "There's Something Wrong." We guessed that. Are you on Vista by any chance? Vista closed a lot of the handy loopholes that used to exist--like recording from the soundcard output. I have a license for T...

Re: Tab options greyed out.
Where did the song come from? Audacity is not a universal music format translator. You have to meet it at least half-way. Download the piano trill from here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html ...and put it on a timeline by itself. It's really short. Did all the tools come back to life? Dra...

Re: Is there an easier way to add a tone
Cue Tones? Alerting all the dogs in the neighborhood? Tone generation in 1.2 will not win any awards. There are a number of people that designed entertaining work-arounds for the tone generator that never seems to do what you want. Have you thought about 1.3? 1.3 fixed quite a number of the odd prob...

Re: Noise Removal
I don't mean to sound snippy. I'm helping a bunch of people and I go as fast as I can. So it's a Windows machine (Platform) running the Beta 1.3 version of Audacity. Can you tell which Windows and the accurate Audacity version? Look in Help > About. Which Windows screen do you get when you turn the ...
