Re: Cannot initiate Stereo 2 recording
Something else. This kind of oddity happens when the stylus (needle) and cartridge assembly are not providing the sound signals to the rest of the system. If the cartridge came as a separate, carefully packed item that you plugged into the end of the tone arm, disconnect it and reconnect it several ...

Re: problem on a Mac platform
First, you'll not be compiling anything. That's for the heavy computer programmers. Can you speak C++? Then this isn't for you. You can get the pre-built Mac versions from here. http://audacityteam.org/ Decompress (click once), Create a fresh Audacity folder in /Applications and drag all the decompr...

Re: Tab options greyed out.
Yes. Lame is a shareware MP3 generator based on licensed algorithms from Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft who owns MPEG1, Layer III (MP3). In order for Audacity to remain free, you have to put the MP3 tools in yourself. Once you download the right (zip?? exe??) file from the Audacity web site, decompress it ...

Re: Resampling does not produce identical files
Now quite enough information. Resampled what? What was the original file?
They warn you that any resampling at all ever is to be avoided because there is always some damage to the performance. It never comes out even.

Re: Bug when exporting audio?
<<< think it is a bug.>>> It might be. But the definition of a bug is something reliably bad that happens to 30 or 40 unrelated people. In addition, all the Audacity programming might is currently pushing code around to bring 1.4.0 to general distribution. Can you write instruction books and wikis? ...
Re: bass
Buzzy, crunchy bass notes? He's right. You're overloading something. Bass notes are big and hard to manage. Your ear doesn't hear them very well, so for a song to sound right, the bass notes need to be a lot higher than the rest of the song. If the song mix is already bumping up against zero on the ...

Re: punching in
Not as handy as you think it should be. Open the replacement sound, highlight and Copy (different for different computers). then open up your damaged track, highlight the damaged part and Paste. You can kill yourself completely if the two sound formats aren't the same. In my case, both tracks were 4...

<<<They are cue tones for fireworks about a quarter second long.>>>
That's not very long for fireworks, is it? If you're not paying attention you'll miss half the display. One blink at the wrong time and an entire flash could go by.

Re: Forum log in/connectivity problems
I got another piece of this. It's 12:27 am Pacific (but not in here in Hawaii) and I just tried to post a response to a question. The system just started grinding and grinding, so I started another FireFox tab and just on a whim, surfed over to Audacityteam.org. No problem. Read messages, change for...

Re: Dropping one Octave.
Whatever you were doing, I bet it didn't work. I think the pitch of the performance went down one octave, but I bet it was unusable when it got there. Unless you were converting a pure tone, transferring a music performance much over about three semi-tones in either direction usually sounds terrible...
