Re: Running Bootcamp-Windows to capture 24/96

<<<I didn't think it would even work seeing as 24 doesn't.>>> 32-bit floating is the Audacity default and it seems to work pretty well. I've used it on several Macs and no explosions so far. <<<are you saying that a Mac running Windows/Audacity wouldn't cope with 24 bit as well? I'd be interested to...

Re: Trimming multi-tracks, keeping in sync

You could do that, or you might take a good look at Audacity 1.3. Both Audacities can be installed, but not used at the same time. This is typical of the odd problems that 1.2 had that may have been addressed in 1.3.

Re: Running Bootcamp-Windows to capture 24/96

32-floating isn't dreadful. There have been tests done that it's a very significant improvement over 16. But not 24. For some reason, Macs don't get along with 24-bit. People who try production at 24 bit are plagued with high distortion and system instabilities. No idea why and nobody's going to wor...

Re: "What Your Hear"

It is useful. And in the wrong hands, responsible for more damaged audio transfers and panicky help postings than just about anything else. "How come I get echoes when I record my turntable?" So Mac left it out. You can put it back with either a license for WireTap or SoundFlower from the ...

Re: getting mp3 recordings into email

Most email programs have provision for sending "attachments" to email messages. Basic email will send words and the more advanced emails will send fonts and colors, but basically words. The designers figured out right away that it would be good to send binary data files in addition to word...

Re: Individual Sample Position?

<<<export the sample to wav and use a Hex editor to look at the data directly.>>> And then you can stop every so often to push hot pins into your flesh because that will be less painful than what you're doing with the Hex editor. I'm thousands of miles away from my machines right this second, but I ...

Re: Importing a large audio MP3 file

A 230MB MP3 file at 10:1 compression will expand itself to 2.3GB when it is imported and edited. The import process alone may take enough time for you to go down to the 7-Eleven for a Big Gulp. From that point on, Audacity will have to manage the whole file and two or three UNDO levels, so the whole...

It would probably be good to know the operating system providing the command line.

<<<Koz was wrong about on thing though, do not use any frequency weighting as Intensity does not take into account frequency content.>>>

That would be the "C" switch on these instruments.

Flat.

Re: Needle importance in recording vinyl

I can hear, with no effort, several of the posters on the forum scream, "Stop using that turntable!" You are buffing up the toenails of a pig. Those turntables have terrible mechanical stability and groove tracking issues and because they're so cheap, the turntable platter isn't heavy enou...
