Re: non usb michrophones-
A straight dynamic microphone (Sure SM-58, ElectroVoice RE-20) can sometimes be forced to work with a computer "Mic-In" connection, but it can be pretty painful. Dynamic microphones usually work very, very well, but their sound level isn't very high. The older computer sound systems had a ...

Pan Effect Filter?
The panning tool on the left side of the timeline [L-----R] affects the whole timeline.
I want to apply individual pan tools within a performance to sweeten, for example, a wide-screen theatrical stereo dialog mix. (I know they're not done that way, but work with me here.)

Re: Splitting dialogue down into two separate tracks
While I'm getting my tools in order, what did you start with? Dual channel mono? Real mono? Stereo mixed with overlapping dialog? Completed show where you want to "dig" the performers out of the final mix?
All these take different tools.

Re: Remove reverb and mic feedback from a 1972 lecture
<<<I'd post/share a piece of the recording if it would help.>>> Yes. Park some of that somewhere. Sometimes the user description of the problem is wrong and we kill off a show that wasn't quite dead yet. He's right, tho. You can't get rid of a live room. You know that live sound you get when you sin...

Re: all in the same level
You have several problems with those cuts. First, I would convert my timeline to dB so all the tools are operating in the same standard. Black arrows on the left > Waverform (dB) Then grab the bottom of the timeline and pull down so you can see what you're doing. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audac...

Re: save or convert aup to mp3
The Universal Binary build is 1.3.3 according to my notes. You can install both 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine at the same time, but you can't run them at the same time. I'm back on my Intel machine now and you have the lame file, correct, but if you go with version 1.2, your version will be 1.2.5. Koz

Re: Audcacity will not accept edits for a 3-second file
What sorts of edits are you trying to do? What kind of machine are you on? What happens if you download the six second piano trill from here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html ...put it on a timeline all by itself and try to do similar really short edits? This should separate broken tools,...

Re: OSX Installation: Low Audio/No Monitor
This turntable has analog audio outputs, so see if it works using this technique. It was written for the ION turntable, but the idea is the same.

We'll take the audio level thing first.
