Re: project is gone
<<<I think I moved some files from folder to folder after I imported them into Audacity. Not all, though.>>> That's not good. Can you move them back? Would they happen to be music selections at the beginning of your show? The AUP project file is a laundry list of what to put in your show and where i...

Re: all in the same level
That dB thing is less important than getting the other tools to work. Can you find the "Normalize" tool and make it work?

Effect > Normalize
Normalize to -3 and Remove DC which is the default for Audacity 1.2

Re: Recording from Vinyl -> Digital : Signal Strength issue.
<<<I'm still trying to get the HIGHEST signal strength possible>>> Won't do you any good. You're adjusting the wrong thing. It's pretty clear that your digital version isn't going to get any louder. Zero dB Digital (0 dBFS) is an absolute limit. That and you didn't apply any volume compression or ot...

Re: Distortion with Audacity File to Music Monkey or Music M
There are tools in Audacity that don't take affect until after you Export your sound file. So if you did that, then you actually did produce a damaged sound file by accident and you can find out by bring it back.

Re: save or convert aup to mp3
You stepped into a fuss that happens on the forum. Many people are convinced that you can do a better job in an external compressor (lame) than the Apple internal one. In any even, what you were doing should have worked. Further, if you do have the wrong Audacity, sooner or later that will cause pro...

Re: project is gone
<<<I saved my work many times>>> You saved your Project many times. A Project is a production environment consisting of many, many files. The first time you get an actual show as one single sound file is when you Export. Next time you get to a point in editing where you have a valuable and irreplace...

Re: Project displays waveforms, yet there is no sound
Articulate Studio? Or do you mean Audacity? If you did all that in Audacity, you have no show. Audacity Projects do not save audio. They "point" to other audio files. The file your project was pointing to was that original sound file. Without that, no show. The only way you would have had ...

Re: "Fuzzy" playback
One of the techniques available when you just can't figure out a problem the normal way, is to reverse it. Can you make it worse? If you roll Audacity for record while you're set to capture, say, internet audio, does the capture audio have the distortion? Obviously, the next question is what do the ...

This is the Windows forum, isn't it? When was the last time you defragged your hard drives? a heavily used Windows computer will have all sorts of disk access speed problems because of chunks and fragments of files sprayed all over the place. When was the last time you did a comprehensive virus chec...
