Re: Editing songs in ITunes
iTunes songs are not in a digital format that Audacity understands. You know an easy way to do this is QuickTime Pro? QuickTime Pro understands millions of different formats, comes with editing tools, and can export to millions of other formats. Highly recommended. If you insist on doing it in Audac...

Re: Equalizing a SELECTION not working
I'm going with no. Once you MP3 compress a song to death, there's literally nothing left to boost back up to normal. MPEG1, Layer III (MP3) is a lossy compressor. It does it's job by very selectively and gently throwing away quality. The designers realized that there might be times when you would be...

Right clicking on the control panel is supposed to open up other options.

Re: Still no sound
Oh, yes. "Save" in Audacity produces a Project which is not a sound file, but a production management environment consisting of sometimes hundreds and frequently thousands of individual files--not all of them sound. Projects make good editing because they're very fast, agile, and versatile...

Re: How to get Audacity to work with Digi002R/core audio
Audacity is a complete slave to whatever the Apple Preference Panels do, not the other way around.
Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input/Output.
Set your devices there and then start Audacity.

Re: Audio formats
<<<The Apple lossless seems to have the ability to achieve a much higher volume without any clipping than the MP3 did. >>> I wonder when people say this, because that's not supposed to happen. I don't doubt that it does, tho. Each audio format is something of a slave to the interpreter that goes bet...

Re: reboot on starting Autacdity 1.2.6
One of my production PCs here at work, one other machine in the building and one of the other engineers are all running Win2K and we all have Audacity installed and running. This local version is 1.2.6. so I think it's the latest one for this platform. So that takes care of the question of working a...

Re: reboot on starting Autacdity 1.2.6
I have several licenses of Win2K in active service. (I'm the one! That's what, three?) I would need to go home and try it, so this is going to take longer than the usual snappy comeback to a tech question. No, that's not normal. Fill in the holes for us. Your system disk (C:>) went into the mud? Are...

Re: Applying Notch Filter ???
Here's one. GRT-500A http://www.testequipmentandtools.com/acatalog/AC_Receptable_Testers.html Scroll down. It's the yellow one. Some say it's possible to get funny readings with these, but if you get an error condition, it's almost 100% certain that there is a power wiring error. Adapt the idea to t...

Re: Applying Notch Filter ???
Notch filter isn't going to do it. You can barely hear "real" 50 Hz hum. What you're hearing is 50 and the first six or eight harmonics; 100, 150, 200, 300, etc. I'm going to be really unpopular yet again suggest strongly you fix it before it's broken. Make sure the turntable audio cables ...
