Re: Help Remove Vocals - Almost There...

Re: Help Remove Vocals - Almost There...

The main vocals aren't entirely in the middle, at least not on my speakers. They have special effects added to their production to enhance the performance by appearing wider and fuller. Once the company does that, you're dead. <<<it also removes some of the drums, base drums,>>> Yes, anything surgic...

Re: Importing Midi/Exporting to MP3

<<<my compositions onto a cd. To do this, the files must be in MP3, naturally.>>> Nothing natural about it. The format on a Music CD is 16-bit 44100 WAV, not MP3. The Audacity default file format is 32-bit , 44100 WAV. It can easily be changed in the Preferences to 16-bit 44100. Direct transition, n...

Re: new computor

<<<audacity 1.3 stable>>> Or Audacity 1.3 Unstable or Audacity 1.2 Stable which are the only two available. You're on Vista now, aren't you? You need to open all this up in the Vista Sound Panels, not Audacity. Once in the Windows record panel selections, right-click and the missing selections shoul...

Re: Only silence when using Export Multiple ??

Normal flesh and blood humans can't move Audacity Projects.

The project folder structure is burned into the programming of the AUP file (which you can open up in any text editor). If you move anything and don't change the AUP file to reflect the change, you're dead.

Re: Is there a way to jump to a position by time?

Not that I've been able to find. You can't do time offsets, either. (+10000 [enter])

That may be available in Audacity 1.3.

Re: Version confusion

<<<It seems that since the Intel machines are newer than the PPC, the Intel version should have the newer (1.2.6) version.>>> It does, doesn't it? I suspect you have to look at the broader picture in that Mac isn't the only platform for which Audacity is designed and the developers tried to keep the...

Re: Equalizing a SELECTION not working

We are reminded that audio production in a highly compressed or restricted format is crawling with difficulties. In the case of MP3, each time you export and import, the compressor subtracts some quality all over again. If you do enough production management, editing, and cutting, there will be noth...

Re: Importing Midi/Exporting to MP3

MIDIs aren't sound files. MIDI files are instructions for a sound device to produce music. "Play B-Flat above middle C on a Grand Piano with medium pressure. Hold it for three seconds. Let go with a 2 second decay." That's a MIDI file. If you apply that file to a PC, you normally get the i...

Re: How Do I Convert A Track From Mono to Stereo?

You don't. The best you can do is convert it to two track mono. Vocal Removal (or Center Pan Removal which is what the Audacity filter is called) only works if the original performance was recorded in stereo, and even then it can have significant problems. If you listen to a mono performance on head...
