Re: Temporary Files

You have to know what to call it. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery However, I don't know anybody that has ever gotten it to work. Once Audacity crashes, it scrambles the AUP file and all the little capture AU files become orphaned. There is no recovery from that. Audacity d...

Re: vanishing sound! Big chunks!

<<<Thanks for your patience with my strident cries for help!>>> I hate people who do all the correct things right up front. It means we're going to have to really work to figure out what's wrong. <<<I've done a virus/spyware check fairly recently. I'll do it again.>>> No, no. Calm down. I got anothe...

Re: Uh Oh - Project Inconsistencies - May Have Lost Recordin

If you have a reeeely simple project with no directories or folders, then yes, it's possible to get away with that, but one thing that kills people right and left is when they import existing sound files. The original sound file and its directory structure becomes part of the Project Cloud. The joke...

<<<recording from some old tape casettes>>> <<<As for playing the tape before, thats not to practical in that I have quite a few of these to do, so I assume I would have to do each one individually. >>> You seem to have contradictory information in succeeding postings. That's what threw me. OK, so, ...

Re: Recording and noise cleanup/quality enhancement ?

You fell into a standing joke both the audio and video forum people have. "Where is the 'Make My Recording Professional' filter?" As part of that same joke, there is a very good programmer on the forums and when he gets a little too uppity, we ask him for that filter. Enough jokes. You can...

Re: Forum log in/connectivity problems

We had another "storm" yesterday. All times Los Angeles 20080508. I had been in and out of the forum all morning and I went to post a message at 1419 and the connection froze. At 1422 "Audacity Has Timed Out." At 1426 "No Connection." 1427 "Connection Timed Out.&qu...

Re: Uh Oh - Project Inconsistencies - May Have Lost Recordin

<<<so that I could work in simultaneous environments (done that before - never was a problem)>>> If you moved an Audacity Project before and got it to work OK, that makes you one in a row. Can I touch you? Can I have your autograph? We tell people that technically, it should be possible to move a Pr...

Re: Saving a File

<<<I cannot find that particular title.>>> something.aup. It's the Audacity Project file. That's the sheet music for the orchestra. Did you put any punctuation marks or slash marks in the file name? That will kill a save operation. Something/Great.wav isn't a sound file. It's an options structure de...

Re: Burn on Edited File

<<<but it appears from looking at the surface of the CDs that nothing was actually recorded. >>> You won't see that. Home burned CDs don't have that cloudy look like home burned DVDs do. It's not unusual for a burned CD to look exactly like a factory fresh one. Sometimes in direct sunlight you can s...

Re: vanishing sound! Big chunks!

This has got to be a Windows machine, right? When was the last time you did a serious virus scan on your machine? I don't mean the one that runs silently in the background, I mean the one that takes over the machine from you and you have to run it all night. What happens if you do a disk check from ...
