Re: Line in?
Audacity tries its best to hook into the operating system to get the right sound service at the right place and time. Sometimes, the results are a little fuzzy. Go into the Windows control panels directly and do it that way. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the...

However, you should probably be getting comfortable with the fact that your project is toast. I don't know anybody who ever wrote back and told us that their hour-long crashed project is completely restored and they are very pleased.

Re: Any way to do a batch job to normalize many tracks?
There are no batch tools in 1.2. There might be in 1.3, and it's a really good bet in 1.4 which isn't quite out yet. I think the current release candidate is 1.3.5b-III or something like that. I'll see if I can get the forum proctor's attention.

Another possibility is to trash the Audacity preferences file and make it start over from First Birthday at the next startup. Trash Mac Audacity Preferences /SystemDrive/Users/koz/Library/Preferences/audacity Preferences It's not unheard of for digital services to have a conflict when they connect t...

Re: no line in option
It's not a problem with your tape machine, but thank you for checking that for us. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input This may be slightly different with your machine, but that's the idea. Select the audio services you wish. On my older machine, there is a little sound meter built...

Re: Can't open .wav files
Ah. That's what I thought. Your 1.3.5 may be seriously damaged. Next step is trashing the Audacity preferences. ============================ Trash Mac Audacity Preferences /SystemDrive/Users/Me/Library/Preferences/audacity Preferences ============================ I don't know how they do it when you...

Re: Notch filter problem
Oh, and don't fail to test things because "It can't possibly be that." I got rid of pretty serious hum once by disconnecting the FM roof antenna. One serious buzz problem was solved when I pulled out the broken power supply on my computer networking distribution switch.
