Re: Recording Speaker Output
<<<I hate to post what must seem a very redundant question,>>> Redundant, but not easy. I use a license of WireTap on both of my Macs, but Apple hosts a program called SoundFlower that will do a lot of the same things. I understand SoundFlower has no scheduler like WireTap does. You have to be there...

Re: Sound plays intermittently when editing track
First, you know that the blue waveforms are carried in the first two AU files in the _DATA folder? So if you affect the project somehow without Audacity finding out what you did, the blue waveforms won't match. Close everything. Open Audacity cold and empty. Then File > Open > [your AUP file, wherev...

Re: Creating a "Choir" from single vocals
<<<For each copy (not the original), make small changes to the pitch and/or position on the time line.>>>
In other words, it would be faster to get 35 people together in front of a microphone.
I know you were looking for a "Make Chorus" filter.
Maybe in version 1.4.

Re: help - dvd music to cd
<<<"Rip" the audio from a DVD>>> Your task is to rip one of the audios from a DVD. DVDs have multiple audio tracks and you need to get the right one. Those audio cables look pretty good to me, especially since you can get a very good transfer that way...and you are going to listen to it in...

Re: My setup and advice on recording electric gutiar
<<<The sound quality isn't the greatest. Is there any way to get the sound quality of the gutiar to record better?>>> Is it possible that the guitar amplifier is adding boost and fuzz and other special effects so you can hear it, but is not delivering the special effects sound to the computer? The c...

Re: Improving quality of Poor Tape to CD Conversion
<<<the tape is very hissy and has an excess amount of high-end to it.>>> Oh, it's worse than that. Dolby is dynamic. The high end boosting changes with loudness of the show. You might be able to produce a much better show by simply lowering the harshness overall and call it good. Edit > Select All >...

Re: momentary drop-outs on recording
Disconnect the network and disable all the virus software temporarily (if you can). Did that help? Over on the video forums, we know the surest way to create hits and damage in your show is to have virus software, any virus software running during the capture. Some virus software sees a capture as f...

Re: another complete newbie question. .
Need a few more odds and ends.
Windows and which one?
Kind of computer?
You have a Line-Out from your music equipment and you're plugged into the Line-In of the computer (I'm pretty sure that's not true but I have to ask it anyway)?

Re: Recording tracks one after the other
<<<Will Audacity ever...>>>
Yes. After multiple requests for this, I believe the latest 1.3.5 has provisions to append recording to one single track.
You can load 1.2 and 1.3 on your machine without problems, just don't try to use them at once.

Re: Vocals relative to music
Recording live voice is harder (and usually more expensive) than it looks. I would start with the equalization filter and dip everything above, say 7500 (7.5KHz) and then move the drop point around to get what you want. 5KHz should sound like AM radio. Another tool in the add-ons is the low pass fil...
