Re: Inconsistent audio playback... help requested

If you've been haunting the forums, you know that unstable audio problems like yours always respond to doing the transfers using an analog pathway instead of the USB. http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2259&p=8840#p8840 Once your system starts exhibiting audio crackling and o...

Re: effects & small audio clips

<<<don't have the answer to your problem.>>> Then you should start a new thread. What you're doing is called thread hijack and now we will be struggling to answer two questions at once. Elena's problem is that she has music in a form that Audacity doesn't understand. Audacity tries to play foreign m...

Re: Effect Menu

<<<I highly recommend using Audacity 1.3.5 to do Noise Removal>>> What he said. You may find as a lot of us did, that the control over the effect is so much better as to be the difference between a good show and one that doesn't work as well. Noise removal is a two step process. First you find a sec...

Re: Noise Removal problem

<<<Can anyone help me with a problem I am having>>> Liz. I know it seems like you have the same problem as the first poster, but you don't really. It's always good to start a new question thread (it's too late now) instead of piggy packing on somebody else's question. Anybody scanning the forum for ...

Re: Getting a line in from my amp to Mac PB

Wait, wait. You're making my head hurt. Which PowerBook? Mine is a 1.5GHz G4 and I record Line-In all the time. The "Line Level" audio input connection looks like a headphone socket, except the icon is two black arrows pointing inward on a circle. Let's start there. We want to not use an i...

Re: Inactive menus in audacity

How sure are you that it's an MP3? Audacity will try to open up a sound file even though it has no idea what it really is. The catch is, if it's not a real MP3, you don't get your tools.

Re: squeaking noise

If you have QuickTime Pro (very highly recommended) you can open the clip and export it as WAV. Microsoft WAV format falls right into Audacity.

Re: Recording problems

Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input > Line In

Audacity doesn't always chat quite right with the preference panels.

After you set the above, you should be bale to set Audacity for Default Input.

Re: Compiling backup recordings

You lucked out. Normally, the question if how to recover a three hour, once in a lifetime recording. There is a posting about how to recover from the pieces of a crashed machine. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery However, nobody's ever gotten it to work, so the short answer ...

Re: Phone recording volume too low

<<<My levels are great coming out of the laptop speakers, and I've got 'em tamed with the meter tool, but everythings way too soft. I can barley hear anything.>>> You need to ignore the speakers. That's the first problem. If the red recording meters on the upper right of the Audacity workspace don't...
