If you're on Windows, the ASIO drivers could be causing problems. There's a famous conflict there.

Re: Audio recorded from cassette, any way to correct?
The short answer is no. Not that you can't make vocals crisp and help them along a good deal. You can. What you can't do is pull the vocals out of the song to do it. Lots of calls for that. Re: Multiple device recording
1.3.5 is the latest pre-1.4.0 release. If it's not there, then it's not going to happen for a while. Multiple devices is insanely hard to do. Not only are the sampling frequencies never in phase, but they're often off frequency, too. My 48000 sample rate may be one or two cycles off leading to show ...

Re: Recording new track (HELP)
There is a way to set up your Windows machine so Audacity records the sound card output show in addition to what you really wanted to record. You need to dig in your Windows Sound Control Panels. <<< http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Control_Panel >>> Koz
Re: New user
You only lose the main screen if Audacity crashes. Restart your Mac and try the setup again. One thing that can cause the machine to act funny is if your hard drive is filling up. Select the drive icon on your desktop and press Apple-I to get the INFO panel. No audio or video machine should ever hav...

Re: Converting Cassette Tapes to CD's
You're working too hard. Put a blank CD into the Mac. OK the opening dialog and the disk will appear on the desktop. Drag the sound files over to it and drag the newly filled disk icon to the trash, which will magically turn into a burn icon. That's it. When it's done, put it in your MP3 compatible ...

Re: ANY SUGGESTIONS on HOW TO RECORD CLEARLY!
<<<portable recorders such as the Zoom H2>>> A friend of mine uses one of those. He's very pleased with it. Those have the advantage of walking into a shoot with your studio in your pocket. Your studio electronics are in your pocket. The quiet room is still a problem. I don't know what it does wrong...
