Re: Low pitched hum on recording
A fifteen second piece with silent patches (hum only) will tell us a lot. If you're in the UK and are having power problems, the interference will be a multiple of 50--your power frequency. If it's not, then it could be anything digital. Nobody can hear either 50 or 60 ( in the US). What you hear is...

Re: change male voicover to female
If you still have the actor around, you can try a physical method. I did both parts of a male-female performance once by using my normal voice for the man and getting really close and breathy to the microphone for the female. I literally shocked my producer. You need a cardioid microphone to pull th...

Re: change male voicover to female
Pitch Change is rarely effective or believable over more than about three major tones--say C to E. Sometimes less. After that, the relationship between harmonics and overtones kills you. Google. Or dig in the pre-formed plugins. http://audacityteam.org/download/nyquistplugins You have the same probl...

Re: Help streaming recording with Realtek sound ...
The object is to select the sound source that corresponds to what the computer is sending to the speakers or headphones. Sometimes that's labeled "What You Hear" and sometimes "Mix Out." They tend to hide it well because you can get into trouble pretty bad with those tools. The M...

<<<Everything is properly named plus I made a .wav backup immediately.>>> That's the good news. Re: Burning standard CDs
You're almost home. Audacity doesn't burn anything. Export your work as WAV files (not "Save," Audacity doesn't save sound files). Pull the WAV sound files into Windows Media and use the built-in tools to burn a standard music CD. A lot of people would rather open a vein with a rusty razor...

Re: Recording multiple sources at once
No shortage of people wanting Audacity to do live, real-time production. You missed the step where you want to equalize as you record. Everybody wants that. The very best you can do is a patch job of badly operating tools that no matter what you do, will fail to do something critical at the wrong ti...

Re: Matching EQ
I suspect given that you are writing for a free software program, that the poster doesn't have access to the original live recording or any information about the performance. Also given the cost of the software, I'll bet the poster is trying to produce a top-quality, professional audio track without...

Re: Speech Editing
<<<The objective is to create an error free digital file of speech.>>> That one bothers me a little. What do you mean by that? Given that "insert" will require recording live speech to a separate track and then pasting, yes. I think Audacity should do what you want. Audacity restrictions u...
