Re: "st" and "p" and "qu"

You have generated "sibilance" errors where the energy in "hissy" sounds is accentuated. Since you also have popping "P" sounds, I'm going to conclude you're too close to the microphone. I can't actually tell from your description what you're using for a microphone, jus...

Re: Can't record

It's not unheard of for Audacity to have troubles with 24-bit audio. Does it work at any other bit rate--like try a flat normal one like 44100/16.

Re: Playback Problem

Audacity has no idea what an WMA file is, so it tries to load it and play it as if it was uncompressed. The expected length of the song divided by the actual play time in Audacity is the compression. You need to get the work in one of the formats that Audacity understands--MP3, WAV, AIFF, and a coup...

Re: Recomendation for a cheap mic setup

Look and see if your machine has a "Mic-In" connection. If it does, you might be able to use this microphone. http://www.radioshack.com/sm-buy-the-hands-free-tie-clip-omnidirectional-electret-on-http--pi-2102927_tb-techSpecs.html If you have a well-behaved laptop, this may be all you need....

Re: Adding input devices

I have a fuzzy answer. One of the Windows device panels had a right-click option which will give you additional devices.

I'm not in front of my machine, so I can't be any more helpful.

Re: Audacity must close...

When Audacity crashes, it pretty much writes the last chapter of your show. There is a crash recovery document... http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery ...but nobody has ever made it work. I'm much more interested in why it's crashing. Are any of your hard drives filling up? It ...

Re: change male voicover to female

Google is your friend.

One of the other posters was Googling around while he was trading messages with us and found software plug-ins that would isolate a single human singer in the middle of a stereo show. It doesn't work very well, but that one job used to be flat impossible.

Re: iTunes won't import Audacity generated AIFFs

Root around in Audacity Preferences and make sure the bits aren't set to 32-floating. Reset that to 16. 32-Bit Floating is a very nice capture format, but I don't think iTunes knows what that is. For pushing off to Music CD, set Audacity for 44100/16. I personally use 48000/16, but that's my video b...
