Re: Recomendation for a cheap mic setup

I'm doing some sound tests with my 3013 microphone and a simple USB sound adapter we found at work. I needed to get fresh batteries for the microphone (357 Silver-Oxide). If it succeeds, I can give you part numbers for a very good voice channel for about US$ 50.

<<<"tips for bugs and setting" >>> We can't do that. Everybody's problem becomes a bug. "I can't find the PLAY button. It must be a bug in the program!!" Much better to have us volunteers answer questions and notice problems that probably really are bugs--a really, really tiny pe...

Re: built-in EQ and filtering commands add artifacts?

<<<WE SHOULDN'T JUST UNCHECK DITHERING >>> No, that causes other serious problems. The upper limit for sampling accuracy (in the case of 44100) goes from 22KHz sound to 17KHz. The classic Nyquist 2.6 number instead of 2. Everything above 17KHz gets mangled, and I do know "normal" people wh...

Re: splitting projects between songs

Yes. Once your performance is on the timeline, add a Label to the beginning of each song. Then Export Multiple... and Audacity will pile up individual sound files for you.

I don't remember if you need a label at the very end...

Re: Using a mixer to record multiple inputs

A standard 1/8" or 3.5mm stereo audio cable carries both left and right.

Radio Shack and others carry cables that adapt 2 RCA outputs to one 1/8" stereo male.

It Will Not Die!!

Maybe I can borrow a pitchfork and a flaming torch from the next door neighbor. She's a Hollywood set decorator and likely to have such things. I needed the noise reduction tools only available in Audacity 1.3, so I pulled 1.3.5b down and installed it on my OS-X 10.4.11 12" PowerBook G4. I've b...

Re: Feedback/distortion in audio: How to remove?

Back to the spectrum analyzer tool. The default tool isn't very useful, so you have to change the settings a bit. Change from Linear to Log and increase the Size from 512 to 8192. Then stretch the workspace as wide as your screen will let you. One peak should stand out during the feedback. That's wh...

Re: has anyone tried the new beta?

I just loaded 1.3.5b on my PowerBook to get the better noise tools..

<<<there is at least one new bug (which the developers are already aware of).>>>

And what might that bug be?
