I'm doing some sound tests with my 3013 microphone and a simple USB sound adapter we found at work. I needed to get fresh batteries for the microphone (357 Silver-Oxide). If it succeeds, I can give you part numbers for a very good voice channel for about US$ 50.

<<<WE SHOULDN'T JUST UNCHECK DITHERING >>> No, that causes other serious problems. The upper limit for sampling accuracy (in the case of 44100) goes from 22KHz sound to 17KHz. The classic Nyquist 2.6 number instead of 2. Everything above 17KHz gets mangled, and I do know "normal" people wh...

Re: splitting projects between songs
Yes. Once your performance is on the timeline, add a Label to the beginning of each song. Then Export Multiple... and Audacity will pile up individual sound files for you.
I don't remember if you need a label at the very end...

A standard 1/8" or 3.5mm stereo audio cable carries both left and right.

Radio Shack and others carry cables that adapt 2 RCA outputs to one 1/8" stereo male.

Maybe I can borrow a pitchfork and a flaming torch from the next door neighbor. She's a Hollywood set decorator and likely to have such things. I needed the noise reduction tools only available in Audacity 1.3, so I pulled 1.3.5b down and installed it on my OS-X 10.4.11 12" PowerBook G4. I've b...

Re: Feedback/distortion in audio: How to remove?
Back to the spectrum analyzer tool. The default tool isn't very useful, so you have to change the settings a bit. Change from Linear to Log and increase the Size from 512 to 8192. Then stretch the workspace as wide as your screen will let you. One peak should stand out during the feedback. That's wh...
