Re: Scheduling an audio recording

<<<I heard a story that a wise old man once managed to recover his data after a crash>>> I don't know anybody that ever got crash recovery to work, by my sister in Schenectady said a guy who used to work there insists that someone from his mom's bridge club in Binghamton got it to work once. Once. O...

Re: how to set to ignore silence A1.2.6?

Do you have your Windows set to allow you to see file extensions whether they're registered or not? Like if I sent you two files mywork.doc and mywork.wav, would you see them as mywork and mywork with two different icons? You used all the right English words in the question, but I strongly suspect y...

Re: Input of all channels from a mixer individually to Audac

Nobody used the magic word "USB" in that thread. "FireWire" is a good word, too. If your multi-channel mixer claims to be able to send many different sound channels down the digital connection , then it's possible Audacity could be able to import and use them. I don't know of any...

Re: importing .wav files

<<<I beleieve that Audacity should deal with .wav format.>>> It should. Download the short piano trill from here... http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html ...and it should open up in Audacity, iTunes and QuickTime Player. While it's in Quicktime, Press Apple-I for the INFO panel. Now open up your...

Re: Immensely annoying problem. :(

<<<when it happens to me the song becomes boarderline unrecognisable,>>> Did it prevent you from transferring music to digital format? Then it's the same thing. USB turntables have a really annoying failure mode. They're borderline, and they become unstable with impossible to characterize symptoms. ...

<<<It works perfectly fine, but once every 5 minutes or so, it goes very very crackly. >>> You have USB Turntable Disease. There are no shots you can take for this. Re: It Will Not Die!!

I think I know the spell--or a spell.

Close the program with the little red ball upper left of the work window. Then Audacity > Close Audacity becomes active.

Holdover Windows code?

Re: It Will Not Die!!

I have two grays, "Services" and "Quit Audacity." The program is working perfectly. Play, Play At Speed, Stop, Magnify, Edit, and the filters all seem to work. Terminal-Top tells me that there is only one Audacity process running. I may have another oddity. I tried exporting a se...

Re: splitting projects between songs

I worked at an FM station in 1972. We used a Silent Sense system to determine when the next music selection should start. It was about 80% effective and as near as I can tell, the success rate hasn't improved over the years. I was talking to somebody in our shop last week who was digitizing his reco...

Re: "st" and "p" and "qu"

You can easily get rid of "P" pops with a blast filter--basically a woman's stocking stretched over a bent coat hanger. http://www.sweetwater.com/c394--Pop_Filters But the sibilance is much more serious. That's an electrical mismatch between the microphone and the computer. It can cause se...
