Re: To update or not to update, that is the question!
If you have a version and install that works for you, I would firmly advise staying right where you are. The new version will be 1.4.x. Right now the programmers are wrecking 1.3 with an eye toward the 1.4 debut. All the versions past about 1.3.3 are minor patches that break major features of the pr...

Re: Even out volume of voices
<<<do I have to do it selectively. And if selectivly, how?>>> That's the best way. There is an envelope tool on the left with the magnifier tool, the pencil, and the snowflake. You can change the volume of the tracks free-form ad-lib down the length of the show. You can change the volume automatical...

Re: Electric noise on audio recording
<<<I understand that it's NOT AN AUDACITY problem but a hardware problem.>>> That's OK. We do hardware. Your power problems may be more connected than you think. You can get buzz problems like this if the quality of the AC power and the ground system is suffering, or you have two different pieces of...

Re: Any audio quality loss by using Audacity?
There is also the problem that under certain circumstances, Audacity doesn't deal with 24-bit sound very well. 32-bit floating, while not strictly a "universal standard" format, is very high quality and does translate into everything else really well. <<<My preferred format is 32 bit 48kHz...

Re: HELP: after crash, how can I recover data?
Note that nobody said, "The last time I had an Audacity Project crash, this is how I got my show back."
That's because there is nobody who can say that.

Re: importing .wav files
Do you have QuickTime Pro? Highly recommended even though they want US$ 30 for it. Anybody doing any sort of production should have it. Open the music in QuickTime Pro and export as WAV. I don't know any third party translation applications. There are tools in the Apple web site for downloading. Mak...

Re: 1.2.5 not starting on Leopard, complains on wrong arch
I'm not on Leopard anywhere (except one machine at work) so I'm not going to be any first-level help. However... There is a tool in Applications > Utilities > Disk Utilities called "Repair Permissions." I wonder if that would be of any help. I don't strictly know what it does, but I know i...

Re: Noise removal one more time
If you're on a Windows machine, it's possible to be listening to many different audio channels at once. You press Play and Windows could open up the noisy microphone channel in addition to your show.

Re: Soften Harsher Sounds
I have a complaint about the posted MP3. You encoded the MP3 at too a low a bitrate, so in addition to the harsh presentation, we also have MP3 bubbling damage and it's difficult to separate them. But from what I have been able to hear and experiment, the straight equalizer tools aren't going to do ...

Re: Distance sounding on playback.
It's certainly possible your speakers are wired wrong. Read the little piece and download the Left-Right clip and play it.

The last segment is intentionally damaged and weird. I bet on your system, it sounds normal.
