Re: Bass player seeks advice
<<<The so called "vocal remover" just removes audio that is identical on both left and right channels>>> The Audacity version of this tool is called the "Center Pan Remover" for a reason. That's more like what it actually does. Anything dead center in the middle goes. Lots of tim...

Re: Music bed
<<<The one I made is very clunky going in and out of the podcast...>>> How clunky is it? I get this fuzzy idea that you're trying to do live podcasting using Audacity as the production tool? Audacity have never been a real-time production tool in spite of billions of people trying to use it like tha...

Re: Vinyl recording
In no particular order: The "Mic-In" on most computers is mono and internally puts the one performance channel on both left and right--assuming you're trying to produce stereo. What you get is two track mono. A computer "Line-In" if you have one, is stereo--two different sound ch...

Re: recording problem
Windows machine, right? You can set the Windows sound panel up for some pretty entertaining problems. I believe you're recording your voice and the Mix-Out of the sound card at the same time. This will give you recursive echoes since Mix-Out is slightly late compared to the main performance on Mic-I...

Re: builtin mic wont stop playing sound through my speakers
<<<I just figured out how to record while hearing both the previous tracks as well as the new track at the same time.>>> How did you do it? Download SoundFlower? Apple went out of its way to prevent you from having the speakers and microphone running at the same time like the PC people. This was int...

Re: export as AIFF
Audacity > Preferences > File Formats should let you change the file type. You might want to think about changing from WAV to AIFF. iTunes, for example, accepts WAV just fine, and it's a much more universal format. If you email an AIFF to a friend with a PC, they might not be able to play it. Koz

Re: Voice Recorder for Recording Phone convo?
Nobody is going to race to your rescue, because there isn't a very good way to do this. At least not a very good cheap way to do it electronically. The equipment that allows Doctor Laura to talk to people who call in works very well, and listening to the radio, sounds pretty good, but costs many, ma...

Re: Soften Harsher Sounds
See, then? Not everybody's topic goes to four chapters. You're an Audacity Celebrity. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to stretch my skill-set with more advanced tools. I had never used Audacity 1.3 before and I had no experience with the newer noise reduction tool at all. I'm still not compl...
