Re: Soften Harsher Sounds
I will probably post that clip, too. I'm messing about with my web pages (bring them up to W3C Validation) and doing a project for work and trying to keep up with this thread.

Manchester? It's raining, right?

Re: Soften Harsher Sounds
Just to throw mud in the game, did you do that from the original sound clip? I think I recognize an early stab at noise reduction in there where I didn't get rid of all the artifacts, so the clip has competing patches. Here's the original sibilant, noisy WAV sound file. http://www.kozco.com/audacity...

<<<I intend to have a go at making a de-esser plug-in>>> There must be a reason this is so hard to do. Re: Vinyl to Apple Lossless
If you just want to record the vinyl to a "perfect" audio format, Microsoft Wave (WAV) is just the ticket. The files are large, but it's an uncompressed format and you can do production with it and expect no damage from the production tools, unlike the compressed formats like MP3, Dolby, a...

Re: Newbie to audio recording
It takes two or three readings of that post to get it all in. On Windows machines, it's perfectly natural to be able to record Mic In, Line In, and Mix Out. It's this last one that kills you. Mix-Out is the connection to your speakers. It's the one you need in order to record internet radio shows an...

Re: Extremely long "save project as" times
You know Audacity is still manipulating a 12-hour long sound capture no matter what you do, right? What would happen if you decided after this was all done that you wanted to UNDO the editing? If you lived a good life, the original show would come back. Something had to save the original show somewh...

Re: Removing frequencies by sample comparison, possible?
So the DJ talked right over the music you wanted? Darn those people. The exact process you asked for is how the Noise Reducer works. You play samples of the announcer and select them for the noise reducer to derive a profile. Then you apply the tool to the rest of the show and It tries to subtract a...
