Re: Missing noise removal

My Preferences file is... /Users/koz/Library/Application Support/Audacity/audacity.cfg Although this is Tiger... <<<So I need some very clear instructions...>>> Stop...Using...1.2. The noise reducer in 1.2, without putting too fine a point on it, sucked. The fancy-pants equalization and noise reduct...

Re: Recorded audio starts before zero

<<<from a digital voice recorder>>> Does that count in some way? Are you transferring digital bitstreams? This could be messy. I think you should blow your install away, download and install a fresh one. However, Windows doesn't let you nuke the Audacity Preferences file like the Macs do. You could ...

Re: Need advise ...best microphone?

<<<You'll need to listed to the result to see how it affects the sound of your voice.>>> Which brings us back around to good headphones. Trying to monitor sound from live speakers presupposes that you have a good room with minimum echoes, a good amplifier, etc. etc. etc. Nobody ever has that, so a g...

Re: Recording in a Classroom

Two problems. Yes, the Macs have a very nice Line-In. I use it for mastering and I get very good results. It's expecting roughly 1000 times higher volume than you get from a microphone. So problem two is to get a wireless microphone that doesn't have noise and instability problems and problem one is...

Re: If Error 2 were a person...

I usually tell people you can't move projects at all. An Audacity Project is an editing management environment--probably nothing you haven't heard already. It also consists of all your original sound clips in the show and in their original folders and directories. Miss one and the show's toast. If y...

Re: Width cutoff?

VoiceTrap was a recent discovery by this forum about six or so months back. Before that, you couldn't do this task at all.
This is another one.

Re: Distortion While Recording New Track

How big is your computer? Live playback and recording takes some serious processing to get everything in at the right time. Since this is Windows, when was the last time you defragged your hard drives? No audio or video program will perform live capture or playback from badly fragmented drives. Koz

Re: Recording 2 podcasters simultaneously?

The magic words are "two microphones." I don't think there's anything about a normal PC (or Mac) that will handle two microphones. Audition, Audacity, and I'm sure most audio programs will only handle one sound "device." That's a slippery word. If that one device happens to be a ...

Re: newbie - startup problem

First step is going into the Mac setup panels and see if the USB microphone is still listed. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. When I do that, I don't see "USB Microphone or "Samson," but the name of the chipmaker inside the microphone. Make sure it's selected and...

Re: Input clipping with Dell and Vista

No shortage of "soft words" in sound these days. I'm going out later to buy a sound card to plug into my USB and I want it to have microphone level Line-In. ....what? That's a normal English sentence, but I just described four different things, not one. Sound cards go inside the machine an...
