Re: Can't get a waveform w/ everything set to 'line in'?
Component entertainment sound system people call that a pre-amplifier and it's job is to control the volume and switch between all your sound equipment and not very much else. It pushes the sound off to the big power amplifier which drives the speakers. Here's mine. I bought it new as a kit and it's...

Re: Error while opening sound device
So what you're obliquely telling us is that you have two different systems struggling for the same audio output device. I bet if you uninstall the Abelton, Audacity will start working.

Re: High-pitched garble when exporting to MP3
<<<Audacity does not support WMA.>>> No....but..... Audacity will try to play any unknown music file as if it were not compressed. If you walked into the room with an uncompressed WMA file , I bet Audacity would play it just fine. That's extraordinarily unlikely, but that particular condition would ...

You need to produce an MP3 music file from your Audacity show?
If you Export your show to MP3 [File > Export to MP3] does the program tell you to find the lame file?
Let's get you that far first.

<<<stop and then start it again it wants to record it to a new track which means I have to edit them into a single track later.>>>
Or not. I believe Audacity squashes everything down to one stereo track when you export. Somebody will correct me.

Re: Exporting
CD burning programs naturally want to add two seconds of silence between songs. Sometimes you can turn that off in the authoring/burning program.
Could that be it?

Re: High-pitched garble when exporting to MP3
First I heard of an export working like this. The high-pitched sound clip is your show compressed very strongly in a method Audacity doesn't understand. The difference between the real length of the show and the playing time is the compression amount. It's possible you got a damaged lame download or...

Re: I Have A POP Filter But I Can Still Hear Distortion!
One more note. With the idea that you're overloading the input to your preamplifier, you can throw the [-10dB] switch on the side of your microphone. Then bring everything else back up so the volume is the same. That may help a lot with the overloading problem. The first amplifier in a Mic Pre is no...
Re: MP3
What he said. Bubbling sound files usually means too low a compression bitrate. So those super tiny MP3 files you've been so happy with are probably doing this to you. Set the bitrate higher in Audacity Preferences > File Formats. <<<Have mixed 11 Aup files >>> Probably not. AUP files aren't sound f...
