Re: Bad on one computer, not other

Wait. CD you're recording from? Sounds like uncontrolled feedback to me. How did you set up the Windows Sound Panels? Any time you try to play and record at the same time you're going to run into problems. Windows Control Panel http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_...

Re: Recording with Multiple USB Mics

<<<First off, is it possible?>>> No. Audacity only deals with one Sound Device at any one time. Even if you put them all through a hub, each one individually has to negotiate with the computer to send (or receive) sound. The hub manages the negotiations. It's a nightmare for the computer because eve...

Re: Recorded Volume Randomly Varies...

<<<the pattern of droning in and out>>> Well, maybe, but the complaint isn't additional noise. The complaint is the performance volume changes erratically. It does bother me that you clearly don't have the computer wired right. Laptop PCs tend to not have Line-In (unlike Macs) and instead settle on ...

Re: Help I'm not sure I am doing this right!

When recording a show, a normal Audacity should look something like this: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg The record meters are on the right and the playback meters are on the left. They're green. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Do you have something that lo...

Re: "Unable to open Portmixer"

<<<When the MOTU audio interface is selected under preferences>>> That's Apple preferences, right, not Audacity? What does happen if you set Audacity for, say, ten channels--or maybe 16 (Audacity Maximum) restart Audacity, and then set Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input for the MO...

Re: Help I'm not sure I am doing this right!

<<<I tried to record but nothing is happening. >>> I can help a little bit right away. Audacity has a diagnostic mode. Open Audacity as normal and click once inside the red record sound meters. They will become active and measure whatever it is you're doing without sending Audacity into full record....

Re: Please help.

We're chasing our tails here. You described about fourteen different symptoms and have been very light on actual data. What kind of computer did you used to have? Who was it made by and what were the model numbers if you have them? What computer are you using now? Maker and model number and type of ...
