Audacity won't open up most highly compressed file types; AAC, MP4, M4A, etc. etc. No matter how you try to open them up, you'll get trash or maybe a squeek in place of the music.
You need to convert the music to something Audacity can understand before they will open.

<<<Don't you get this:>>> Version creep? I haven't been paying attention to which forum has all the problems, but it could be 1.2. I've never had this problem because I set the OS to show me filename extensions and I know which types are acceptable. But I can point to a number of people who got nast...

Re: Viewing/Monitoring but not Recording

You know you can get the sound meters running without recording? Set up Audacity to record but don't press the record button. Instead click inside the red record me...

<<<just counted to ten so as not to be instantly banned from this forum!>>>
Unlikely. The only way you can do that on the forum is to start selling web sites to make my manhood bigger (it's happened). And even that's only if they don't work.

Re: Spoken Word: Tweaking for Maximum Quality
Forgive me for editing your post to put a little air in there... I just couldn't read one enormous block of text like that. You obviously want the "Professional Audio Filter." Whatever you shot comes out perfect after application of the filter. This is an old video joke and any time the pr...
