Re: Hey, what would I need to buy in order to record some so
If you use the built-in speakers on the keyboard, then plugging anything into the headset socket will kill the speakers. They'll come back when you unplug. So the little adapter is to get from the 1/4" stereo socket in the keyboard to a 1/8" stereo socket. The third item splits the 1/8&quo...

Re: Help With Compression Effects
One quick note. The tools in Audacity 1.3 are very much better than the ones in 1.2.

Re: Help With Compression Effects
Straight volume compression is pretty easy. Usually in a natural performance, you get louder and the performance as recorded gets louder the same amount. If there's a compressor in there, sooner or later your volume increases are going to hit the Threshold Control . After that, you get louder, but t...

Re: Application error crashes in Vista
Shotgun time. Change the temporary directory listed in Audacity Preferences to Something Else, Somewhere Else. It almost doesn't matter where. Just Change Something. Disconnect the machine from the internet and turn off the Virus Software. That's a favorite problem for the video people. What else is...

Re: exporting to itunes
<<<I've been putting in titles and album information in Audacity (1.3.5) before I do the 'Export Multiple'.>>>
Then you win. We'll do it that way.

Re: Audacity program quitting
There is an interaction problem between Audacity, the computer, and USB turntables. They don't always get along so well. We think a few too many quality shortcuts were taken in the wrong places. Just a note; I just paid for a phono cartridge more than you paid for the whole turntable, digital audio ...

Re: Sudden strong scratchy static noise while recording
<<<just now found an extensive thread dealing with the problem.>>> And there have been a number of extensive threads. This is a common problem. Given you get all the problems licked, you will begin to seriously run out of steam about the second or third day of doing this. About long enough so you ca...

Re: Recording the computer's own audio output
<<<you do know i don't tote an ipod dont you?>>> I sensed that. <<<it will either stick there or forget it has to be reset.>>> Audacity will never be able to see the real Line-In of the computer--or correctly record much of anything of the computer as long as both SoundFlower and Hijack are installe...

Re: Audio input too loud
Let me predict the past. You're on a PC laptop and you're trying to feed it high-level vinyl performances from a pre-amp or other amplifier. In a word, no. Deskside PCs and most modern Macs have high-level stereo inputs as a matter of course. PC Laptops in a majority of cases only have Microphone Le...

Re: exporting to itunes
While your performance is still on the timeline, set a "Label" (Apple-B on a Mac) at the beginning of each song you want to export. Then, Export Multiple (not Export) and all the songs will form a little pile. Drag the whole pile over to iTunes for importing. Remember to set iTune's import...
