Re: MP 3 conversion, available programmes please

<<<It does beg the question why do lots of customers want mp3? >>> In answer to the original question, I recorded the voice tracks for a theatrical short we produced using my PowerBook, a sound mixer, a Shure SM-58 microphone, Audacity, and a quiet room. Since my work was going into a video show, I ...

Re: problem with the envelopes

Did you save the project after you used the tool? The blue waveforms and the actual show are different. Is the show still there--does it play anyway?

Re: File Won't load properly

Audacity doesn't understand all sound file types. Windows Media Audio is a complete mystery to Audacity, and all Audacity will do is try really hard and then mess it up. The newer Audacity versions will pop up a window to tell you immediately that what you're doing isn't going to work. You need to c...

Re: HHHEEEELLLLPPP!!!

There is an update to that page. Sometimes Audacity will say "Default Input" instead of matching the sound device names from the Apple panels. But that's basically a step-by-step of what I did to get mine working.

Re: HHHEEEELLLLPPP!!!

<<<I have a Blue Snowball mic in my USB Port.>>> You should probably go into Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input, and select the SnowBall mic in there. It may not say Snowball. The last time I tried this with my USB microphone, it listed the maker of the chipset inside the micropho...

Re: What's that loud hum & hiss?

You didn't correct us when we said you were on a Windows machine. Should you have? Pull all the cables from the sound card. Line cables, speakers, everything. Restart the machine, launch Audacity fresh and click once inside the red record meters. They will come alive in testing mode and allow you to...

<<<"kosikowski" and "waxcylinder.>>>

Glad to help. Actually, there's a "z" in there. Between us we have W, X, Y, and Z covered.

Re: Burning music

http://musicians.about.com/od/qz/g/redbook.htm 74 minutes, 99 songs, 4 seconds long, etc. If you had stuttering or missing songs, it could also be you were burning really cheap CDs and/or burning them way too fast. Go out to Staples and buy a short stack of Sony CD-R disks and don't burn any faster...

Re: Changing vocal tempo in songs

<<<Itried doing this on my own, but was unsuccessful.>>> How unsuccessful were you? The tools in 1.3 work pretty well. I think it's tempo and you get to pick a difference or a percent or something, it's been a while. Select some audio. Effect > Change Tempo. You do have to select some audio--or the ...

Deleting Forums

Some time ago somebody advocated shuffling and adding to the forum list. I want to delete some. We spend A LOT of time in the General Feedback and Discussion forums wasting time getting the users to tell us which machine they have. If not Windows, Linux or Mac, then what? Amiga? Will Audacity even r...
