Re: What's a good recipe for remixing early stereo ?

You also understand that this is going to reduce everything. It's not going to reduce the vocals and leave the orchestra alone.

Re: What's a good recipe for remixing early stereo ?

Nothing easy. OK, so here's the insanely complicated way. FM radio broadcasts two channels of audio, but they're not Left and Right. They're L+R and L-R. They're called the Mono and the Separation Signal. They put L-R in the FM radio channel where old Mono FM radios can't see it. They just see the r...

Re: What's a good recipe for remixing early stereo ?

No. We're looking for another way. When you split the tracks, they stay on Left and Right. They don't mix. If you convert to mono, they do mix and all the separation goes away. There is an insanely complicated way to do it with L+R and L-R channels (like stereo FM does), but I'm looking for another ...

Re: noise reduction sampling crashes audacity 1.3.5

<<<The wav file I opened is 3.17MB. >>> That's part of what we're looking for. It doesn't matter wh...

Record stereo. Split and export the sides you want. No cable swapping.

Re: 1.3.3+ Noise Filter crashes on me every time

<<<I can provide crash logs?>>> Let's see if we can do the fuzzy-warm right-brain analysis first. <<<It just hesitates and crashes.>>> Which part hesitates? Noise Reducer works in two parts; Get Noise Profile, and Apply Profile. Just to eliminate one pathway, pull down the six second Piano Trill fro...

<<<(If it's relevant, the Stagg runs on a Behringer mic pre-amp for fantom power.)>>>

It could be very important. Which Behringer?

Re: Background static won't go

<<<(I tried using the line-in but I couldn't even hear myself.)>>> So right away you're in trouble. The job of the microphone amplifier is to boost the tiny sound level sound coming out of the microphone to the much higher line level so it will fit in the Line-In of your sound card. That is precisel...

Re: missing menus?

<<<I'm using an intel MacBook, OSX 10.5.3.>>>

If you're on an Intel machine, you should have been using Audacity 1.2.5 not 1.2.6.

So it would be really good to go back and make sure you got the right 1.3.

Re: upgrading from PPC to Intel problems

<<<But I had to go back to my old computer to do it.>>> Which brings us back to: It's almost impossible to move Audacity Projects. Yes the blue waveforms do come from the _DATA folder. It's the first two (or more) AU files. Start a really simple project, save it, and then go in and delete the first ...
