Do you have QuickTime Pro? It will say so on the About logo.
Did you put any punctuation marks in the filename? Tuesday/MusicCapture.mp3 is not a valid filename in OS-X.
If there is some doubt, rename the file with the simplest possible filename--no punctuation and no spaces. Music.mp3

OK, I'll bite. Can you post it, or a sample of it that crashes somewhere?

Re: first track gets recorded onto second track...?
I think we have enough for a little push. Audacity Version is most times under "Help." PCs have a facility called "Mix Out" or "What You Hear" and if that is turned on, the machine will pick up the speaker audio and feed it back into the record system. This would accoun...

Re: I press play but nothing happens.
Has it ever worked? Is this a very fresh install of Audacity? Which Windows and where did you get the music from?

<<<And I NEVER saw this bug on the G4.>>> We warn people that a "bug" is a very specific set of circumstances that are remarkably difficult to produce. Unstable performance of a program on your machine does not constitute a bug. I think the last time somebody turned up with a similar probl...

Re: Can I Back Up Files/Data to a DVD?
<<<And am I correct in thinking that MP3 files on a CD won't play in the computer or on most stereos?>>> Nothing so simple. Computers are talented enough to play floor sweepings. The fact that your work plays in a computer tells you nothing. Most car CD players still won't play MP3 files on a Data C...

Re: noise reduction sampling crashes audacity 1.3.5
You have bad or damaged original songs. Audacity will try and play songs which were recorded in formats that are completely foreign to it. Sometimes it will work enough to convince you that everything is OK right up until you try to do something exotic. Then, Blammo! See if the songs will open up in...

Re: HELP! No matter what I do, I can't record streaming audi
Macs will not record internet audio without changing the machine slightly by adding a software package. It's Apple's way to keep us out of trouble. Most of the questions on the Windows forum have to do with Windows Audio, not Audacity. The simplest way is to go up to Apple's web site and download So...

I think I'm dizzy. How many different questions did we answer in that one thread? Please people, start your own fresh question. Re: how to equalize the volume?
Probably the best tool if the volumes are that far off is to "normalize" each one. Select > All > Effect > Normalize. This process needs to be applied to each song one at a time before you make the music CD. Audacity 1.2 will automatically normalize to -3 dB, and the later versions of Auda...
