Re: HELP! No matter what I do, I can't record streaming audi
I'm perfectly clear what you're trying to do. We need to make sure your basic machine is working. Remember this? give me EXACT, SPECIFIC step by step instructions? You have no idea how many times we cranked ourselves into knots with instructions only to find out that the user's machine is broken and...

Re: LAME MP3 NOT WORKING ON MY MAC HELP!
I see a note here that I wrote to myself that the first decompression produced a damaged file. No idea why. Don't do anything when StuffIt volunteers to download an upgrade. I think that's the one they charge you for. That may be why the first decompression fails. To get your attention.

Re: LAME MP3 NOT WORKING ON MY MAC HELP!
<<<But after I downloaded the LameLib-Carbon.sit file, it expands to a text file full of gibberish.>>> It should have expanded into a file called LameLib which you then move to your Applications/Audacity folder. Try downloading it again or decompressing it again. If you View > List, the download fil...

Re: Anyone know how to edit an M4R file?
Audacity does not support advanced compressed filetypes like MP4, so the best you can do is two steps--and that's just to get it into Audacity. I would totally convert it to something uncompressed like WAV or AIFF, so editing and show management doesn't make the sound quality any worse. Of course, t...

Go to... Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input ..and select the built-in microphone. Make sure the volume control is at least half-way up. Speak and the bouncing lights sound meter should work. Close that panel, open Audacity and select Default Input Source in the work window. Make s...

Re: Normalize Destructive Behavior ??
Neither the "+" nor the "-" sign should be allowed inside the normalize window, or they should be allowed, but not paid attention to. If the user-entered number is interpreted incorrectly, it will lead to Audacity normalizing the show to an irrational number and creating damage. ...

Re: Remove harsh frequencies from recorded sound
Can you post a segment of the performance on a host somewhere so we can hear it? Most email systems will not let you send large files and there is no provision for posting sound segments here on the forum. Do Not Compress the work into another MP3 for posting. We need to hear it as a WAV--as close t...

<<<Nope, I have 1.2.4. >>> So there is no config file. Your only hope is installing 1.3.x. That one does work from a config file and leaves the registry alone. You can install both 1.2 and 1.3 on the same machine as long as you don't try to use them both at once. <<<Some information that you may be ...

Re: The Letter 'Z'
Forget the folder for a minute. Can Windows® find that file anywhere? The config file is a relatively new event. The Mac people have had one for years, but the early Windows installations used to go into the Dreaded Windows Registry (from which there is no return). <<<I reinstalled Audacity>>> I hop...

Re: How do I isolate this "Scream" noise in this demo I did?
I can't download the file in FireFox. It's so embedded I can get the shells, management files, and html locators, but never the actual music. Also it's got quite a number of filename violations in it. For universal filenames, never put punctuation marks in there, and if you transfer via ftp, spaces ...
