Re: can't get it to play in either wav or aiff
<<<have to buy a program that really works. >>> Paid programs have the advantage of acquiring all the license fees and generally come with their own sound operating environment. Audacity has to add all these things on as separate programs and plugins and it's generally a complete slave to the existi...

Re: can't get it to play in either wav or aiff
32-bit floating is not supported by everybody. It's a great mode to do production because it's less likely to damage the sound on extensive effects, but if your eventual goal is iTunes or your iPod, stick with 16 bit--or convert to 16. 44100 16 bit is extremely standard, but many people consider it ...

Re: NO PLAYBACK with i-tunes track
<<<I was not successful in converting tracks from i-tunes.>>> itunes tracks are in AAC format which Audacity doesn't understand. In addition, purchased tracks have FairPlay copy protection applied to them which makes it very difficult to "borrow" the music. You posted in a forum where we d...

Sure. Intel MacBook Pros don't take Audacity 1.2.6. We take 1.2.5.

Re: internet radio recording
Given where you posted, we have no idea what computer you have, but if you're on a Mac, you need to buy WireTap or the free and much more difficult to use SoundFlower. Depending on which Windows you have, you can mess with the Windows Sound Control Panels and make it happen that way. Windows Control...

<<<The big problem is that I cannot adjust them and listen to the result live>>> I don't know why not. That's how I do it. Not exactly live, you have to equalize and then play the show to see what you did, but it's not exactly flying blind. There is also a Preview function that will play a segment q...

Re: Outdoor recording woes can I save this splashy dead disa
<<<There really is no way to effectively remove reverb or echo once it's on a recording. >>> Let me talk about this for a second. Echoes are the speaker's own voice coming back to the microphone later than the original performance. Anything that affects echoes also affects the performance. They're t...

<<<currently only in .aup format,>>> Or more accurately, in Audacity Project format. the AUP file is only one of a great many files which make up your show. I personally would Export As WAV immediately to get the show--even broken--as a stable WAV file that you can use as a backup and even copy to a...

<<<and bring across the aup and data files.>>> Don't fall in love with that process. It's a lot more brittle than you think.
