Audacity 1.2.6 was never seriously intended to run on the Intel Macs. The fact that it runs at all is an Engineering/Programming mistake.

Re: Bad feedback/no input options found
<<<a choice of input sources >>> There should be, but there frequently isn't. Audacity is a complete slave to the computer it's running on, so it's best to select the input thing in System Preferences. That's how both of mine work. I would have been happier if the Mac could figure out the chipset na...

Re: noise editing
It's not unusual for a mains notch filter to not have the desired effect. First, you need to know if you are in a 50 or 60 Hz power location. US, 60, Great Britain, 50. Second, you can't hear either one. What you can hear is the distorted 50 and 60 which has harmonics well up into mid range voice so...

<<<I duplicate the recording with a Sony DAT>>> I duplicate my recordings with a known good working stable high-quality audio recorder, but I need to get rid of that as soon as possible. Did I get that OK? The closest you are going to come to doing that is Export (not Save) at regular intervals over...

Re: Stereo in my MIC jack?
You could damage something. Microphone connections have battery voltage on the ring.

You very carefully avoided telling us which Mac you have.
PowerBooks are all in one. Do you have a PowerBook?

<<<Still of course, the mic is quite old by now, six years at least. Maybe that's part of the problem.>>>
Or maybe not. The Left-Right sound test from here was recorded with an RCA BK-5b microphone. A sixty-year old BK-5b.

Re: HELP! No sound after saving projects -- flat liners!
Just to be clear, I don't do heavy editing or complex multiple track outputs. In that case, you almost have to manage the Projects instead of straight Exporting. But there is no excuse in my book for complaining that your computer did "something funny" while you were editing and an origina...
