Re: System crash, auf files in Temp folder, can't recover.
<<<How can I change these .auf data files to a format that I can use?>>> I doubt you can. If Audacity or the operating system takes a dive between the time you capture a live performance and Export As WAV (Save doesn't count), your chance of recovering the show is very near zero. I believe the captu...

Re: LAME MP3 NOT WORKING ON MY MAC HELP!
<<<what's the point of having the option of exporting as MP3 if it doesn't work??? >>> Because it only doesn't work for you. It works for everybody else. I need to go back through the thread and see what's going on. Are you on 10.5? Leopard? Are you bet your butt sure you have Audacity 1.2.5 and not...

Re: How to turn data files into audacity files?
Even if you have the AUP Project files, you'd still be dead because the file position and location of the hard drive matter. You can't move Audacity Projects. Next time you get valuable stereo or mono work, Export As Wav as a backup. Those move and email perfectly, and you can go back in and edit th...

Re: Importing from a recorder through usb
<<<I really need to talk to someone who can talk me through this.>>> You really need to post this in the correct forum. Go back up and find the forum for Windows or Mac or Linux and your version of Audacity. http://audacityteam.org/forum/ This is the forum where we discuss the blue background. Do yo...

Re: Lost KEY recording
By the way, for better response, I would post in the forum for your computer type and version of Audacity. You posted in the forum where we discuss the size of the forum fonts. Do you like the blue forum background? How about the smileys? Do you think we have enough? Add any?

Re: Lost KEY recording
Were you messing around in the _DATA folder? The first two AU files in the _Data folder are the keys for the blue waveforms. Without those, the sound will be there, but no blue waveform. Try saving the project again. If it's a relatively simple stereo show, I would totally Export As WAV to get a sin...

Re: Mic sounds distorted =[
Excellent. It seems like a very nice microphone. I'm writing this down. I would want the 200 because I want the filters and attenuators. Anyway, you can't plug this microphone directly into a computer. There are electronics inside it that need 48V Phantom Power battery to travel up the microphone ca...

Re: Strange problem with exporting mono files as stereo
The proof of this might be to take about a minute of this material and convert it to stereo, export it and pretend you're starting over with a minute-long show. (don't Save anything. Save is magic in Audacity and not always in a good way.) Audacity doesn't really delete anything when you press Delet...

Re: Laptop noise problem
Just once in that whole thread did you mention "the mixer." What mixer? If the computer starts making noise and you unplug the 1/8" audio cable, does it continue? You don't have to go into record for this. Start Audacity and click once inside the red record meters. They will wake up i...
