Re: Focusrite Saffire 10i/o Question
Audacity will manage up to 16 individual sound channels from any one Sound Device. Many manufacturers make 16 channel equipment by electronically gluing eight Stereo Devices together. The trick is getting the ads to tell you which equipment is "real" 16 track. It's possible that it's a Win...

Re: How can I make a voice sound like outdoors?
<<<You need to start with a "dry" (as little reverb as possible) recording.>>> Which kills the original poster who was looking for a way not to put carpeting on his walls. The title of the post is misleading. By the way, those of us who do this a lot use furniture moving pads. They're clea...

Re: need to recover files
<<<I'll be sure to do that.>>> He's not kidding. One of the things holding up the presentation of Audacity 1.4 Stable is nobody to write the instruction book. You are in a perfect position to do the part of the book nobody ever thinks about. Things I Got Stuck With as a First Time User. The other th...

Re: How can I make a voice sound like outdoors?
"Outside" sound tends to be weak on bass and completely free of echoes.
You can't take echoes out of an existing recording. It's still one of the reliable show killers.

Re: need to recover files
<<<presumably that comes with a manual.>>> So does a jetliner, but the books will not always help you over the first learning step. I will say that most instructions assume you have basic computing skills. You are not going to get Cut and Paste and filename management from any operating manual for a...

Re: Recording in stereo, comes out mono
Audacity at First Birthday is set to Mono. If you apply a stereo signal to your computer and the computer accepts it, Audacity will pick "Left." If you Save or Export, Audacity will produce a mono--single audio channel--Project or sound file. Even if you set Audacity to 2 (Stereo) in prefe...

Re: recording "right" side as mono
I think you're stuck. I dug through the instruction and there's nothing in the software that suggests you can configure the unit to do anything other than what it's doing. When you change the number of sound channels in Audacity it uses channel 1 as the base and builds up from there. If you were on ...

<<<I should post my thread in the beta forum aren't you?>>>
No. The only time we get upset about that if you start putting operating problem postings in the administration forum or something completely inappropriate like that. You sit tight until we get this settled.

Re: Built in Microphone......
<<<so how can I fix that?>>>
You want to record from the high-quality microphone plugged into the side of your laptop instead of the cheap built-in one even though you didn't say you had a second microphone?

Re: anyway to level out 2 different audios (urgent)
Just because I'm compulsive, twice the audio level is 6 dB and is a snap to fix. Twice as loud to your ears is 18 dB and that will be very amusing to try and fix.
You will be back later so we can figure out what happened, right?
