Re: Intermittant clicks / pops

How full is your hard drive and when was the last time you defragmented? If a musical cut has been spread out over 52,874 different places on your hard drive because of overcrowding, then yes, Audacity may have a hard time finding all the pieces in time for playback. Audacity will not record at all ...

Re: Labels that work on CDs

As far as I know, the order of music selections on a music CD is all the management you get. The third song you lay down will always be cut 3. [0] [3] [enter] should always play cut 3. Also Play [Skip] [Skip]. Music CDs do not support MetaData which is why your computer always offers to look up the ...

Re: Echo coming from turntable as I'm recording

<<<ike the song was playing twice, with only a second or two delay.>>>

It's possible to mess up the live sound monitoring on a Windows machine but still get a good recording. Did you get a good recording?

<<<I'm running Audacity 1.2.6 on an Intel G4 iBook>>>

Strike one. Audacity 1.2.6 will not run properly on an Intel Mac. You need to download and run 1.2.5 like I have on mine. 1.2.5 is the stable code for Intel.

Re: Silence after saving

[rootd] Ummmm. That's an abbreviation of your real name, right, you're not logged into the machine as the root daemon? You don't have to tell me your name. A simple yes or no is good. <<<When we saved that file>>> And that's the exact point where what you did and what you think you did differ. Audac...

Re: Mysterious static during recording

That's perfectly normal for a USB turntable, but not for a microphone. How are you getting a microphone into an iMac? Built-in?

Re: Audio Silence

I don't know that the picture tells us a whole lot. Because of the way Audacity manages waveforms, a lot of normal recordings look like that.

Can you describe what you were recording and how?

USB turntable, by any chance?

Sending Users Back.

I personally would edit the "Announcements" message to include... http://www.audacityteam.org/forum/index.php ...and a note to look for their Audacity version and their computer style. Maybe a note how to find that info. Just admonishing somebody who is already lost doesn't help. Remember ...

Re: I downloaded audacity and now my computer has no sound

Go back up to the top of the forum listings and find your version of Audacity and then which computer you have...

...and post there. Most of the helpers never come down here looking for people in trouble.
