<<<Never downloads for {word rejected}, thank you very much.>>>
No, but you carefully installed the wrong Audacity. Our Intel machines take 1.2.5.

Re: recording problem
You need to have perfect pitch to use the Audacity vocal recording function. Just kidding. Audacity > Preferences > Audio I/O Juggle between Software Playthrough and Hardware playthrough. Pick the one that's least objectionable. Some don't work and some play to your headphones late. Depends on the m...

Re: Need help with Audacity and SoundFlower
<<<I came to understand that my iMac will not record it's own output.>>> Perfectly true. Most Macs will not record their own output without significant software help. <<<I have attempted to download SoundFlower>>> And, we assume, you succeeded? I stopped recommending SoundFlower after I pulled my li...

Re: Silence after saving
Next time, instead of clicking on mymusic.aup, launch an empty Audacity and File > Open > mymusic.aup. I don't remember the conditions under which I ran into this, but I did. Those two open methods should be the same, but they're not. Let me know if this works. I can officially turn it in as a possi...

Make sure you get Mr. Happily's signed release before you use his voice in a production.

Re: 2 USB mic's with onboard sound?
Chances of success are pretty much zero. Audacity will only accept sound from one Sound Device. Each microphone is one device. This is the magic time you invest in a mixer and real microphones which is the dollar bump. One poster earlier wanted to do the same thing. Going from two microphones to thr...

Re: Assigning different inputs to different tracks
Someone will correct me, but I don't think you do. I think Audacity starts with track one and works up. You can scramble the tracks in post.
Also, Audacity will only manage 16 tracks, so if you recorded your stereo show on tracks 21 and 22, you may be out of luck.

Re: unable to "play" track
<<<As I understand it the file (MPEG-4 Audio) should playback once it has been imported.>>> Where did you understand that from? Stop listening to that person. Close your ears. LALALALALALA! You need to convert the file to Something Else to get it into Audacity. WAV is good. QuickTime Pro comes to mi...

Re: Mp3 to wav giving huge files?
Ten to one data compressed MP3 music files convert to WAV files that are ten times larger. WAV files are not compressed. You can make WAV files smaller by doing silly things like converting to mono (half file size) and creating WAV files with poor quality; 22050, 8-bit instead of CD standard 44100, ...
