Re: Good sampling rate for vinyl?
There is a considerable debate raging about trying to capture directly to a FireWire drive. I would personally be capturing to my internal System Drive and then Exporting live captures to the FireWire drive for safekeeping. <<<I could tell no difference if the the power cord was plugged in or not. >>> One of the failures is the power system interfering with the show. This usually changes a lot if you suddenly change to batteries from being plugged into the wall. So this isn't your problem. <<<but am getting alot of noi...

<<<where you only see one person at a time? >>> Movies are shot with one movie camera. First you shoot all of John's lines in the love scene and then you reverse the camera and shoot all of Marcia's lines (thank you Stan Freberg). It's like listening to one side of a phone call. And frequently out o...

White noise if equal energy per frequency. <<<does Audacity support CoreAudio?>>> Open up Apple Preferences... Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input ...As a general rule, Audacity supports anything that appears in that window. If you make noise and that little sound meter wakes up, you should be golden. Koz

<<<I guess this audio is too damaged.>>> Almost without exception, by the time normal humans realize they need the repair packages, it's too late. I know of one time exactly where a producer got rid of a really low air conditioning noise in an interview and the show was a great success. Once. Ever. ...

Re: Left channel only
By the way, there is a technique for proving the cable is OK. Unplug everything and plug the 1/8" plug into the computer headphone output. Put your headphones on and see if you can jam the headset 1/8" between the tip and the shield of each RCA. This is a little like the 18 volume publicat...
