Re: Noise Removal

I am thinking about getting a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829128002 I have two of these. They're really simple and small and they do work OK, but they have a high noise floor. There's a constant hiss in the background when I use this with a computer microphone. I strongly s...

Re: Basic Hardware Set Up Question

Let me shotgun this with what we have. Model numbers are good when you mention hardware. That gives us an enormous head start. The explanation of the Ring and Tip comes from how an 1/8" audio connector carries stereo sound. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html Your des...

Re: unzip files

In Windows, it's usually double click on the xxxxx.zip file and extract if it asks you. That should give you the (from memory now) lame.dll or something like that. In Windows, it's a Dynamic Link Library and I don't remember where it wants you to put it. There should be instructions.

Re: Newbie: How to record the 'actors' voices form a dvd??

Shall we save you a step? Your next post is going to be "How do I separate the actor's voice from the background show and audio effects?" "Frankly, Scarlett, I don't give a damn." as I recall is over the lush background orchestration for the ending of the movie. Center Pan Remove...

Re: Newbie: How to record the 'actors' voices form a dvd??

That cable thing may not work as well as you would think because the Mac turns off the playback during recordings. My personal favorite is WireTap which lets you record anything running on the Mac. The version they're pushing is WireTap Studio at us$70, but You can get much earlier versions from Ver...

Re: can't record multiple inputs with Helix Board 12 Firewir

On multiple channel sound devices I don't think you assign anything. Audacity starts with channel one and works up. And you only get 16.

Re: Export options not available for selection?

But just in case it's not (turntables can cause insane problems) download the piano trill from here...

http://www.kozco.com/tech/soundtests.html

...and see if the export and save options behave. It's six seconds lone and it's a known good working sound file.

Re: All settings correct still no sound

<<<I can only assume that the problem lies somewhere in Audacity.>>> You can only assume the problem is with VLC. Dueling free sound programs. Each sound program assumes that it and it alone is the One Chosen Way. Audacity really likes a simple machine with no competition. There are two other free s...
