Re: Exporting mp3's
The earlier service will produce an MP3 that will play on the most number of different players. The later one is much fancier, but some older players will look at you funny rather than play the file. As a Desperation Method, export the work as a WAV file. Set iTunes preferences......... I bet you're...

Re: LAME doesnt work with standard user account
If you installed "lame" as the administrator, you may have accidentally placed it in an area that the Lowly Users can't access, or installed the file so that only the administrator can open it. Get Info on the lame file and try to change it to global access or at least wider access than it...

Re: No Gain Control on Microphone Input
Are you in Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input? Does your headset show up on the device listings? I have been able to get good if not great results on my USB devices by changing the volume there instead of Audacity. I've never been able to get anybody to tell me if that slider affe...

Re: After saving in Audacity, it shows up flatlined
Audacity does not Save sound files. Once you get your show on the timeline and it's correct in every way, immediately Export As WAV. That will produce a nice sound file which you can edit if you wish and move from place to place. Audacity Projects are collections of many other files intended for com...

Re: Silence after saving
<<<I am new here in the forum, hope I can use this correctly.>>> First we would urge you to post a new message rather than tag along on the bottom of somebody else's thread. It prevents your question from bubbling up to the top of the forum where we can see it. Second, you should probably go back an...

Re: is there a way to get a known bug on the 'fix' list?
There is no "Bug List" because there has never been a problem in the history of the program that wasn't a "bug." It would kill the rest of the forum. "I can't find the Preferences selection. Can you help me with this program bug?" There is a favorite list we keep in our...

Re: 1.2.6 NOT recognizing my microphone
Sorry about the attitude, but constant fights to get people to give us enough information to solve the problem do make me crazy after a while. We don't have crystal balls, although I do have my own and my grandfathers, but most of us have to make do with the information provided by the users. Someti...

Re: Saving Recordings to Hard Drive
Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. To get a stand-alone sound file, use Export As WAV or Export As MP3. Try opening Audacity first then File > Open the AUP file. If you cleaned up or deleted any files after you saved the AUP, then there may be any show there to open. AUP isn't a s...

Re: MXL DRK mic, Tube MP, and Lots of FUZZ
Do you have an iPod, cassett player, portable CD player, anything like that? Plug a 3.5mm (not 1/4") stereo sound cable between the iPod headphone jack and the Mac Line-In. Start the iPod at medium volume. Launch Audacity from a cold start and click once inside the red record meters. If you get...
