Re: Burning to CD?

You can use Audacity to capture the disk performance on your computer, slice up the long single sound file (side 1) into songs, and then Export Multiple as WAV files. Drop the files into iTunes, construct a PlayList, and Burn the Playlist to a disk. This will produce a Music CD that will play anywhe...

Re: After saving in Audacity, it shows up flatlined

I do live captures by Exporting As WAV every hour or two during the show breaks. Then, later in post production, I open up the sound files and edit them to the final show. If it's a critical show, I will make safety copies of all the WAV files immediately after the performance. Thumb drive, FireWire...

Re: recovering deleted temp files?

He's right. The early versions of Audacity were pretty brittled if you messed with them during a capture. The New Audacity is supposed to be much better. There is a disaster recovery process, but the number of times it's actually worked can be counted on no hands. http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index....

Re: Audacity crash during application startup

You have a large amount of stuff hanging from your machine. From the looks of the report, the operating system has no idea what some of it even is. I was going to tell you to trash Audacity, download it fresh and reinstall, but I changed my mind. I think you have a conditionally unstable machine. Pu...

Re: Accidental PCM recordings

<<<just copying the files to CD will not do you need to create a music CD with a CD burner program like Nero or Roxio (or even iTunes ...).>>> What he said. You are officially creating a Music CD with a Music CD Authoring Program. Just dumping a WAV file into a blank disk will create a Data CD which...

Re: 1.3.5 problems exporting, wav files end up blank

I bet this is (in my opinion) an Audacity bug. Audacity will try to "help you out" by playing a sound file whether or not it has any idea what it's doing. If the file turns out to be a foreign, unrecognized sound file or damaged, play is all Audacity will do. It won't export or save or in ...

<<<Is there any expert out there able to help me with the above?>>> There doesn't appear to be anything above... Can you point to the original posting? This sounds like a request of pull a clear conversation out of intense background noise or bubbling compression. Lot of that going around. In genera...

Re: Connecting turntable to soundcard issue

Yes, you totally missed a step there. Connect the receiver to the computer and that step should not need a ground isolator--especially if the computer and sound system are plugged into the same power sockets. The turntable, if it's a classic one, is required to be plugged into the Phono In of the re...

Got it. They moved it.

iTunes > Preferences > General > Insert a CD... > Import Settings.

My personal preference is AAC 256 kbps. Apple Lossless is the other high quality possibility.
