You are playing a compressed audio file that Audacity doesn't know how to manage. The amount of compression is reflected in the speed of playback. You should convert this file to WAV or MP3 before importing into Audacity.

Re: 10.5.5 sound input optionless
Everybody I know with an Air is busy adding things to it to make it into a working computer instead of a fashion accessory. Macs as a rule will not record from a playback like PCs will--or used to (Vista stopped doing that). I use WireTap to do this on my PowerBook. I bet you can, too. That's the we...

<<<I'm using Audacity 1.3.3 beta on Ubuntu 7.10.>>>
So you accidentally posted this in the Mac forum? Really, we're not going to know, either.
I regularly do long (2-hour) recordings on a Red Hat machine and that seems to work.

Re: batch process to combine 2 mp3's together
I got small pieces. I think Version 1.3.x has a "link" tool that will do batch. There is no batch process in 1.2.x.

When Audacity takes a dive, it produces unrecoverable garbage. But here's the disaster recovery process. Crash Recovery http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery I'm more interested in why it died. I do extended recordings, but I do it in 1.2.6, the stable version of Audacity. Is th...

Re: Audacity Is Recording Everything Including Itunes
You may have asked Windows to record "Mix-Out" or "What You Hear." Either of those sends the total performance output of the computer back to the Audacity record service. Your voice arrives twice hence the distortion. You get to mess around in the Windows Audio Control Panels. Wi...

Re: Deleting hang-up "click" in batch mode
I'm going to throw pieces at you. There is a "chain" command in Audacity Version 1.3.x.... http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6603&p=26209&hilit=batch+process#p26209 ...and you might be able to use one of the phonograph "pop and click" removal tools to...

Oh, and in the case of Instant Capture Death, Select your hard drive and press Apple-I for an INFO panel. No drive on a music (or video) machine should be over 90% full.
