Re: Recording Problem.

Got the clip in good order. That sounds like data errors. That's not good. I don't think we covered what kind of computer this is. Have you restarted the machine from power off? Gracefully shut down the machine like normal and in the case of a deskside machine, reach around and pull the power cord f...

Re: Recording Problem.

I can tell you that most likely, the microphone on your headset needs some of the services that come up from the computer. It's not a one-way trip. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html The second illustration is typical of the type of microphone you would have on your heads...

Re: LAME doesnt work with standard user account

Can I understand that there is only 1.00 installs of Audacity in the whole place and everybody logs in to use it as needed? We keep insisting that Audacity is a really simple program that sometimes resists complex installs. Does lame start working if you install Audacity and lame on one of the remot...

Re: LAME doesnt work with standard user account

<<<It makes me think its a rights issue>>>

Almost certainly. If you don't have that BOM thing and lame does work only with limited accounts, then the account permissions may be at fault.

I gotta go back up and read the thread again.

Re: Recording Problem.

So we're clear it's not the microphone because you had it disconnected and the system still had troubles. Most people wouldn't think to do that. My field isn't Vista and I"m filling in until the right time zone rolls around for the Windows people, but is there any way you can post a bit of the ...

Re: Audacity & Vista: stereo-mix gone

Voice Over IP systems are odd ducks to begin with. First you have to trick the computer into being bi-directional and then to do it in a way that doesn't cause feedback, howling and odd echoes. In order to do that, the program completely takes over the computer sound services. So now here's Audacity...

Re: Larger dynamic range without distortion

Where is the sound actually coming from? Let me predict the past (pressing fingers to forehead). You got a feed from the church mixer or you provided your own microphone mixer and plugged it into the side of your PC laptop. The typical PC laptop has connections for Mic-In on the side. That connectio...

<<<Whenever I try to record something the microphone line is smooth, though when I try to actually say something into it or do something it begins to randomly fade in and out with loud static.>>>

Describe the microphone. Is it built into your computer?

Re: Making Karaoke using Audacity

This almost never works right. There are some very strict conditions that must be met to completely suppress the lead singer, but if you want to give it a shot... Center Pan Remover (Voice Remover--Search the page for "Center Pan Remover") http://audacityteam.org/download/nyquistplugins Vo...

Re: Messed up audio sounds high pitch

We would urge you to make a quick sample recording before a major musical event to avoid recording three hours of trash. Macs tend to have "Line-In" which is a perfect match for a sound console, mixing desk, or field mixer. Laptop PCs tend to have connections for business communications wh...
