Re: HELP! Any beta ver crashes on launch but 1.25 works fine
So would I, but I'm out of ideas. Did you find the Audacity Preference file? I think on most machines now it's audacity.cfg. People tend to leave that file alone when they "start over" and are stunned when the shiny new Audacity has exactly the same preferences and problems the old one did...

It sounds like the Windows Sound Panels got adjusted during the recording.

Re: Recorded tracks FADE OUT automatically
We have people complaining bitterly that they can record nine hours straight but not ten, so your 24 second thing isn't normal. Audacity will go toes up if it can't find enough hard drive space to work in--or it can't find whatever is there fast enough. There's no such thing as "Hold that guita...

Re: Is it possible to trim the upper pitch extremities?
The compressor tool might be indicated here. Effect > Compressor. This has nothing to do with digital compression. This tool is a loudness manager. It doesn't affect the sound at all until it increases over a certain level and then it reduces the level. You can set where it grabs and by how much and...

Re: Help someone
<<<They all have an extension .AUP, so far so good.>>> Not so far, so good. AUP files are English XML Language programming files, not sound files. This catches everybody. If the person still has the shows on their computer, they need to Export As WAV or Export As MP3 to get real sound files. Those w...

Re: how to set monitor on fulltime
There is another wish list item for that tool. Say you walked up behind me at the exact instant my phone rang and I had to leave. Am I in monitor mode? How would you know? This is a powerful problem when you're using Audacity to troubleshoot an audio system. Is the system broken, or is Audacity in E...

<<<anyone have any clue where that is?>>>
On a PC? a DLL is a Dynamic Link Library which is a Microsoft Windows information file. That's not to say that other programs can't use them, but I'd be surprised.
So wires got crossed somewhere.

Re: Audio output
A good first guess at sound specifications is 44100, 16-bit, and Stereo. Not everybody supports 32-bit floating.

On the quickest possible guess with no information, I would think you had either a hard drive or memory problem. No program brings OS-X to its knees without a hardware fault.

Re: selling Audacity on auction site Trademe NZ
Yes, you do need to be careful about that. Nowhere is it written in the General Public License that you can't sell Audacity or any other GPL program. There are minimum standards of conduct and you're on your way. GPL was intentionally written to support that in order to boost programming quality and...
