I've been known to Select, Copy and Paste. Audacity sees a "Paste" as an insert edit and the new tune should just elbow everything else out of the way.

<<<112GB capacity, but pretty full just 2GB spare. >>> That's not "pretty full." That's ready to be pruned now. That particular drive should have 11 GB free at the bare minimum. You would be shocked how quickly 2G vanishes under even a modest project. Let's see, UNDO buffers, Effects modul...

Re: decks to laptop
Since we're using the analog inputs of the computer, you may be able to help with a little Windex or alcohol-based glass cleaner. Spray on a paper towel and rub the connector vigorously and then finish off with a dry rub. Same with the output connection to your speakers. I clear a lot of complicated...

Re: Playback Trouble with Audacity
How full are your hard drives? Both operating systems will go slowly insane if the System Drive or C: fills up. In the case of Windows, a badly fragmented drive will cause major problems too. You defrag all the time, right? Both OSs have drive heath tests. Windows: My Computer > Explore > right-clic...

And just to be clear, fixing any kind of distortion or problem in post production is a last resort. Produc...

<<<we just plug our mics straight into there and record. >>> Still fuzzy patches there. Macs don't have a microphone input and PCs only have one. How are you dealing with two mics without the mixer? Re: Control Track to control effects
What you could do is create many tracks at the different pitches and fade them in and out at the right times. You could also poke yourself with hot pins which might be less painful.

Re: Control Track to control effects
Some of the bigger video editors have the ability to program a filter over time, but I've never seen anything like that in Audacity.

One more. Did you create a "root" login and are you an administrator and is the other user an administrator?
