Re: Recording Skype Calls Windows 6.1
If you're both on Skype, Skype may be able to record it for you. https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12395/how-do-i-record-my-skype-calls I got a good, reliable Skype recording at home, but I did it with two computers and a sound mixer. One computer for Skype and one for everything else. https://www....

Re: Adjusting dB rate to meed requirements
Windows real-time effects, I don't know of any Windows effects that can give a harsh tonal boost like that. Treble turned up and Essing. You could cut wood with that sound. @Mangasama You may run into an odd production problem. You can't change microphones in the middle of a book. So whatever you d...

Re: Adjusting dB rate to meed requirements
That's Tone, Noise Reduction, DeEssing and Mastering. It passes ACX Check and sounds reasonable, but I had to do way too much work to get it there. Correcting a whole book would be a career move. Untreated WAV MANGASAMAMastering-NR-DeEssTone.wav Set normal playback volume to your voice, then roll it...

Re: Adjusting dB rate to meed requirements
You have "essing," too. Harsh SS sounds.
Are you speaking into the company name? This is a side-address microphone. I don't think the instructions come out and say that anywhere.

Re: Adjusting dB rate to meed requirements
I applied the three tools in Audiobook Mastering... MasteringSuite.png ... and the clip passes. Screen Shot 2020-03-24 at 10.55.51.png So you could stop right there. No other tools. However, you don't pass noise by all that much and I would add very gentle noise reduction of the beast, 6, 6, 6. But....

Re: Have to use File>Open
Catalina created all sorts of problems for Audacity. If the files opens, be happy.
Be warned if you need to record from a microphone, check it now before you bet the farm. It may not work.
There is a new Audacity version out shortly.

Re: Importing mp4 and m4a into Audacity
Audacity will import the MP4 (without the video) and M4A directly...as soon as you install the FFMpeg add-on software.

Re: Couldn't find the project data folder & Could not load file
If you did rename some of the work, you can go inside the AUP file and see what the original names were. Open the AUP file in a text editor (do not save anything) and read it. This is the AUP file for the project in the illustration. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/aupFileGraphic-redbox.jpg ...

Re: Couldn't find the project data folder & Could not load file
This is an Audacity Project. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg The _DATA folder is a basket of tiny sound files and the AUP file is the list of instructions that tells Audacity how to put it all together into your show. You must have both. People who "clean up&...

Re: Adjusting dB rate to meed requirements
Normalize adjusts the tips of the blue waves. RMS Normalize adjusts the loudness. There are not that many tools that work in loudness and special ones had to be designed so we could help people with audiobooks. Same thing with ACX Check . There are ways to measure your voice file success without tha...
