Re: request simple instruction on erasing parts of recoding
<<<I wish only to keep some portions of the recordings>>> That one isn't too hard. Highlight or select the portions you wish to keep and File > Export Selection...as WAV. If you don't hit it exactly, don't worry, you can open the WAV files later and trim off any parts that slopped over. <<<just eras...

Re: Audacity help!
I think your participle is dangling. Throw your father down the stairs his hat. We assume you mean you created an MP3 file in Audacity, not PowerPoint. If you close everything and reopen Audacity, can you open that freshly made file? Close everything. With your mouse, drill down to where you put the...

Re: Severe 'drop-outs' when recording (Aud. 1.2.4)
Lotsa notes. I think Audacity 1.2.4 was the one with the memory leak. You probably should be using 1.2.6. How fragmented is C:? Checked recently? Right click on C:, etc. Do the error check while you're down there. Can we assume that Windows Sound Recorder doesn't work, either? Windows Sound Recorder...

Re: Audio File plays too fast
<<<I don't have iTunes>>> That usually means you don't have a Mac and you posted in the wrong forum. Go back up and figure out which version of Audacity you have and post in the Windows forum--if that's what you have. By the way, you need to convert the song with Switch or Super. Koz

Re: Shortcuts with ALT on Mac
I'm willing to do that, but there is one other catch. I'm not running Leopard (OS-X 10.5) anywhere. I have an Intel machine, but it's happily running Tiger (OS-X 10.4), soon to be made even more obsolete with Snow Leopard--64 Bit. I'm trying to figure out the least painful way to run Leopard on some...

Re: Need help!
<<<Why can't I remove vocals from a MP3 track converted from a video file?>>> MP3 audio format damages the sound a little and that damage tends to make vocal removal harder. We tell people to do production and effects from a WAV file, not MP3. If you got the sound track from an on-line server or com...

Re: Suggestions on pc recording
Many people use that Zoom thing, although it does have some problems. You can't adjust it during the performance. I plug an analog mixer right into the side of my Mac PowerBook. The Line-In connection is very good and yes, I do have to hide the computer or stop recording when the little internal fan...

Re: free midi to wav converter
Right. If I open anything on the Mac something will leap up and volunteer to play the work, usually successfully. On the PCs, chances are that will happen, too. Almost any sound card made since my Windows 98 machine will interpret a MIDI file. I think the software was SoundBlaster on my old PC, but ...

Re: quick clank sound
But Switch, as I'm finding out for my kozco.com entry, will work on both Windows and Mac. Switch will also get you in and out of video formats.
