Re: vinyl-to-digital noise
Stop trying to use USB? You have a perfectly delightful Line-In on the side of your Mac (two black arrows pointing into a circle). Take a Line-Out or Tape-Out of your amplifier and plug it directly in. Probably a simple stereo male RCA to 1/8" stereo plug cable. Set Apple > Preferences to captu...

Re: HELP - dropouts?
<<<some have almost totally disappeared. >>> <<<they even developed on tracks I did nothing but copy sections of.>>> I'm going to predict the past. You've been moving your original sound clips around and/or you've been moving clips around inside the _DATA folder--all those AU files? Worse, you've be...

Re: Recording LPs to digital
While the captured album is on the timeline, place a label (Control-B or Apple-B) at the beginning of each individual clip that you want. When you're finished, File > Export Multiple will produce individual sound files of your work based on the labels. Remember where the label has to be to get song ...

Oh, and which mic do you have? Part numbers? Drums are rough, but not impossible.

I don't suppose there is any way for you to post a little of what you have? You can't do it here on the forum.

Re: Utterly Baffled by Volume Issues
<<<It sounds like that might help>>> But not as much as leveler. You can have Audacity 1.3 installed on your machine at the same time as 1.2, but you may not use them both at once. <<<Is there a way to view the 'promissory notes' changes to the waveform before exporting?>>> No. That's why I don't li...
Re: ECHO
You may be complaining about the wrong thing. You're supposed to be complaining about delay between the pilot track and your voice. The fact that you're complaining about echoes means you're probably not wearing headphones. http://www.fotosearch.com/UPC142/csc38021/ That and PC's ability to record M...

Re: Chains: Best way to delete the telephone "hang-up click"
<<<duration is more than 40 milliseconds.>>> So it considers the pop a part of the show and takes no action. IMHO, you're not going to find a classic filter to deal with this. If the regular pop eliminators can't figure it out, you're always going to have the chance that something in the conversatio...

Re: It won't record audio from any channel
<<<both the mono and stereo channels do not record a sound from my computer.>>> Macs will not record their own show. You can't play a web show and capture it with a normal Mac. I bought WireTap software to do this and I have been very happy with it. You can also use SoundFlower from the Apple web si...

Re: Gentlest way to squeeze a CD?
<<<down to 650MB to squeeze it on one CD.>>> Or 700MB for an 80 minute CD. <<<how badly that would mangle the audio>>> Wouldn't make a bit of difference to the outcome. Music CD Authoring Software will just blow it back out to Stereo, 44100 and 16 bit, only this time it would be doing it to a pre-ma...
