Re: Rewire & Audacity
I believe you would have to write code that didn't step on the old code and only produced a similar result. I own a program with a Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft MP3 license and I've never been able to get that and lame to produce the same show from the same sound file. Neither one necessarily better, but ...

Audacity wakes up from First Birthday in Mono. Reset in Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O.

Re: Cut and Trim
Are you clicking in the timeline, holding and dragging sideways to indicate a portion of sound to be managed? I think the portion turns dark gray when you do that. Do that once to a short scrap of test audio and see if the tools don't wake up.

Re: .aup and _data
The Crash Recovery Tools so far only work with individual files and even that was rough to do. Different Audacities capture clips in a different form and order. The module would all have to be rewritten--again. And ZIP will create compressed archives, but that wouldn't be appropriate in this case. Koz

It's highly unusual to get a non-symmetrical audio waveform. I think one of the female announcers on KPCC can do that, but it's still unusual. It's a piece of cake, however, to get DC offset on your sound by accident which will look like more blue waveform on one side than the other. Select a piece ...

Re: Low audio levels persist with MXL008 Mic
I dug up my USB microphone (the Elves that keep the dryer socks were using it) and plugged it in to see how it behaved. Audacity will never give you more zot than you can get in the Preferences Panel. So close Audacity and open up... Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input Your microph...

Re: .aup and _data
Darn good question. It would eliminate all the problems we have of people trying to edit the individual AU files. I do suspect speed is one issue--Audacity goes to great lengths to trim for maximum speed. People routinely run out of resources and machine speed and start creating bad captures. Those ...

Re: HELP - dropouts?
People notice this right away when they incorporate CD music into their Audacity Project. The music clips in the show vanish instantly when they eject the CD. The blue waveforms on the timeline may or may not follow you because they're individual picture files and they pay attention to the AUP file....
