Re: 1.3.4 Stutterring sound

<<<I have the ION turntable setting on my refridgerator because it enhances the bass! >>> Wait, you do that, too? I wonder if it has to do with the stable platform thing. These machines are notorious for misbehaving mechanically. It wouldn't shock me to find putting them on a solid surface helps a l...

Re: 1.3.4 Stutterring sound

Every so often we get somebody doing everything right and it still doesn't work. Those are rough. What happens when you play a CD, a DVD, YouTube? Does your computer get fatally upset if you start it without the network? Can you play any or all of these sound clips without damage? http://www.kozco.c...

Re: Streaming audio

Somebody will correct me, and nobody has yet, modern Macs will not record their own output without help. This is a stability measure. Most Windows people can do this and most of the postings over on the Windows forum have to do with screwing this up--not questions about Audacity. I have a license fo...

Re: 1.3.4 Stutterring sound

You left out "My hard drive has 50% free space and I error check and defragment regularly."

Is there a reason you didn't say that?

Re: frequency analysis

The short answer to most of that is no. <<<(I need to increase the volume of a certain instrument and decrease the volume of another).>>> Musical instruments have an odd characteristic of occupying most of the audio spectrum even though their primary tones are localized. You would think that the tub...

Re: Good guitar distortion plugin? OR guitar to bass plugin?

There might be plugins to distort your playing, but there is the additional problem that Audacity doesn't apply filters in Real Time. Ever. So you would always be recording your straight performance, stop, rewind and then apply filters. It kind of takes the swing out of a creative performance. Real ...

Re: I think I blew it!

You hit the magic combination. You can't rapidly export stereo eight tracks between sets, so you're stuck with Audacity Projects. Save...and Save As... and hope to goodness nothing crashes. Do think about making the machine vastly more stable. Defrag, etc. With the exception of the various MPEG2 ver...

Re: Shortcuts with ALT on Mac

<<<if anyone needs to do that ... >>> That would be redundant, wouldn't it? ,,,Shortcuts don't work>>> Launch Audacity and open a sound file. APPLE-A will select the whole track. Spacebar still doesn't work. Just to cover all the bases, on a Mac you can get a graphic effect of the program "expl...

Re: Shortcuts with ALT on Mac

I think the 1.3.7 (Mac) Play module is scrambled. Open up a fresh Audacity and sound clip. Click anywhere in the thin time band on top and the clip will start to play from that point (certainly different from 1.2.5). Open up a fresh Audacity and a sound clip. Spacebar does nothing. Play button plays...

Re: I think I blew it!

http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=CrashRecovery You did miss a couple in there. We try to record live performances with an unconditionally stable machine. Audacity will, on rare occasion, crash all by itself. Trying to run it on a machine that routinely loses parts of itself probably isn...
